The Day I Marie Kondo My Drawers

When clutter collides with cleanliness

Cleaning, organizing, and decluttering bring an inexplicable calm to my being. It’s almost a transcendental experience that soothes and silences my soul.

Today, I finally attacked our bathroom drawers.

At first, I felt proud of myself for organizing the hundreds of toothbrushes and toothpastes that our family had received from our dentist in the last 15 years.

After I had finished cleaning, decluttering, and throwing away some items, I remembered Marie Kondo’s book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying up. According to her, all I have done was provide a “superficial answer to getting rid of clutter,” since I continued to use the drawer as a storage method.

Oh, well! Maybe another day, I will toss these out, or maybe I will continue to use them for many years to come.

Kondo this!
