The Dance of the Pigeons
Stop, listen, and watch
Whenever I see pigeons flying around in circles, I stop, listen and watch. It’s a wonderous dance — the sound of fluttering wings, cooing, and the contrast of their feathers against the blue sky. I take a moment to appreciate the joyous performance, be grateful that I can witness it, and reflect on the meaning that the pigeon symbolizes peace, balanced relationships, home, and security.
Pigeons fly in circles because it enables them to sense the magnetic field of the earth and smell the different odors in the air. Their strong, acute sense of smell helps them navigate and locate and identify the smell that native to their nesting ground to reach their destination.
Without their keen sense of smell, pigeons wouldn’t be able to find their way home.
