The Curious Tree

A Fibonacci poem

Image by Author: Me & a leaf, reading at Festival of the Falling Leaf, Tumut Australia

light falls, golden on the page as I read, the tree above; curious, swaying high

sends a gilt-leafed emissary, down-drifting, gently to see how the tale will end

Trees and nature provide us with so many magical moments, whether small and quiet, or boundlessly revelationary. I was sitting reading beneath a beautiful tree in the park of a small rural high-country town a few years ago. It was The Festival of The Falling Leaf, which the town celebrates every autumn. As if it too was celebrating, the tree sent down an autumn leaf, which landed on my wrist, where it could peek at the book I was reading. I captured this in a photo, and then in a poem, which I’ve re-worked into a 2-verse Fibonacci poem. Thanks to MDSHall for his inspiring Fibonacci poem examples & guest prompt for Sky Collection.
