The Cumulus Tango

A poem to the one whom my soul dares to dance with.

I long to see your fingers lock with mine.

To feel my feet lift from the ground,

As we ascend to our airy place of peace.

.

To tango amongst the clouds with you,

Is all my soul ever really needed?

Please take me there so we may dance to entertain the angels.

.

Please lift me beyond the snow-capped mountaintops.

Until our fears and worries scuttle about below us,

Like an ant-hill of anxiety, we will not stop.

.

I need to feel the damp breeze off the cumulus chaos,

Lick my skin slick as we lock our gaze upon one another.

I need to capture sunlight in the specs of gold in your eyes.

.

Thunderstorms will threaten us and they will pass,

But we, You and I, are masters of the sky.

Commanding the winds to bend to our will.

.

Hold me close as each sunrise greets us,

And as each sunset pushes us closer to the end.

We are not to fear this end, for we no longer traverse alone.

.

Between the waking and sleeping of the sun,

We will dance the tango, day after day until starlight comes.

Back and forth, we trade caresses and embrace one another.

.

Hold my hand as the final sunset heats my face,

And feel the heartbeats in our palms pulse as one.

Even as we cease to be in this form, feel me, ever-present.

.

Find me, and dance the tango with me on the other side.

Hand in hand once again, but there will be no heartbeat,

Rather, a magnetism of atoms no force can divide.
