I Lived It My Way

Weekend Prompt: “Give Yourself The Green Light”

When you look into the mirror do you stare deeply into your eyes? Or, do you just glance them over and move on to the next moment? There is a saying that goes “the eyes are the windows to the soul”. If your soul is behind your eyes, what would it reveal, what story would it tell?

Are you a dreamer? If you were given the power to craft your life where there were no limitations, how would your life be different? If you had the green light to be or become someone or something else, who or what would you choose? I ask these questions to provide you with some self-reflection to determine if you are living your life to its fullest potential.

We spend half our lives accumulating many different things. We chase money, some chase fame, some look to others for validation. We go after all the things that we think will bring us fulfillment. Then one day, we get to a crossroad, where we realize that none of that matters in the grand scheme of things.

What is the meaning of this life that we are living? I am still trying to find my way through this tangled maze. We get caught up in so many different detours that we sometimes lose ourselves along the way. I wish I had a guide on how to maneuver through this life, but instead I had to discover it for myself.

I arrived at my crossroad and had to let go of that desire to continue to chase worldly things. I am now more focused on becoming more fulfilled. I am giving myself the green light to just be and to just live. I am going with the flow and will accept whatever blessings come to me each day.

Every day is miracle another chance to add to the canvas of my life. And 40 years from now, when I am at yet another crossroad, I would like to guarantee three things. I would like to be at peace knowing that my canvas is filled with lots of colors. I would like to make sure that I allowed myself the green light to live a fulfilled and happy life and most importantly, I would like to make sure I lived it my way.

Diana C., this topic provided deep reflection. I am feeling so calm because writing this brought a sense of freedom. Thank you.
