The Couple Who Could Not Sit Still
Sex without borders.
They traveled great distances together. They crossed oceans together. They visited exotic foreign locales, shopped in crowded bazaars that smelled of incense, stayed in enchanting rooms in far away inns. They took train rides together across continents and ate in cafes along the banks of rivers flowing through ancient cities. They hiked trails across pristine out-of-the-way landscapes. They watched musicians perform local music and watched plays performed in foreign languages. They went on safari together and they visited obscure museums around the world.
Edna and Darren were never happier than when they were traveling. They bragged to a few close friends that they had made love in 87 different countries. They had visited every continent except Antarctica and they had gone swimming in almost every sea and ocean. They had traveled by plane, by train, by automobile, by motorcycle, by bicycle, and once by camel.
Edna and Darren had taken tens of thousands of digital photographs of all the places they traveled to. They mailed thousands of postcards from around the world to their family and friends. They collected thousands of souvenirs from their travels which filled an entire room in their home back in Ohio. Sometimes they were only home long enough to unpack their souvenirs, do laundry then head back out into the world.
Eventually, their inheritance money ran out and they had to come home and take jobs. Their life turned boring and unbearable. After a few months Edna and Darren were constantly quarreling and soon they were no longer making love even in their own country.
After a year of working and fighting and traveling absolutely nowhere, Darren came down with liver cancer and Edna developed chronic osteoporosis.
One day Edna had an idea. She suggested to Darren that they sell their house and cars and use the money to start traveling again. They could keep traveling until the money ran out or they died from their ailments — which ever came first.
Darren’s face lit up with a huge smile. He kissed Edna for the first time in many months.
So Edna and Darren sold their house and cars and set off on a journey around the world. They gave away their souvenirs and sold their cameras. They would stretch their money as far as they could.
In less than two months of traveling both Edna and Darren were cured of their physical ailments and they never fought again. And they were once again making love! The number of countries they had made love in soon exceeded 100.
But their family and friends back home never got a single postcard from Edna and Darren, in fact they never heard from them again.
