The Coronavirus In The Netherlands — Update 13 April 2020

Yesterday were a few other updates about the Coronavrisu and our situations.

According to the mayor of Bruls of Nijmegen and Chairman of the Security Council, it was very quiet during noon in The Netherlands. “It is necessary that enforcers, such as the police and boas, are there to act if necessary.”, Bruls says.

There are 147 new people in the hospitals and there are fewer deaths. Totally, there were 8729 people hospitalized. The number of newly reported infections is 964. In total, 26,551 cases of infection are now known. Because not everyone is tested, the actual number of infections is higher.

The naval vessel Karel Doorman is going to The Carabien part of our Kingdom, for three months. They are helping through the Coronavirus. Think about helping with giving food boxes, medical care, transport of people and materials, guard the sea border. This naval vessel has medical care onboard for people without Coronavirus. Unfortunately, their families could not say goodbye to them. The military has been in quarantine for two weeks to know for sure they don’t have the Coronavirus. The trip to the Atlantic Ocean is eleven days and on the ships, they will know to which island they have to go to.

Parcel deliverers are very angry. They want extra compensations for the extra work they have to do during the Coronavirus crisis. The Interest Association for Parcel Distribution (BVPD) boss told in an open letter that everything is too much and that there must be more payment for the parcel deliverers. “Every parcel deliverer visits about 200 doors every day”, says the letter to Verhagen. “We currently deliver about five million packages a week, we ring someone every three minutes. Numbers that we normally only get around Sinterklaas and Christmas.” According to the BVPD, fewer and fewer deliverers are available for that work, because one in five deliverers is at home. PostNL should have fulfilled the requirements of the BVPD before 9 am this morning to avoid a lawsuit.

This is an open letter.

Companies and universities are making — all over the world — seventy vaccines to fight against the Coronavirus. That says a document from The World Health Organization (WHO). in three cases, there will be doing research clinically. That will do companies from the USA and China and on 12 April, Ursela von der Leyen, chairman of the European Commission, says that this vaccine will be corona proof at the end of the year. All the other vaccines could take years before it will be ready to use.

Doctors from abroad living in The Netherlands wants to work here, but they need to do some more tests before they even can work here. These doctors need to do language tests, competence tests (if their education matches our standards). Doctors from abroad could be people who have a partner living in The Netherlands, people who are refugees. The Association of Foreign Certified Physicians (VBGA) were asking people with a doctors degree to help during this Coornacrisis. More than 200 people have reacted to this call and nobody is already working.

Dutch pop radio broadcast 3FM is having a programme every year where they are behind glass for four days during Christmas. 13 April 2020 they did this too, but for one day in their studio. This programme called Serious Request and are asking money from their listeners to play a song for one of the listeners special person. This money is going to the Red Cross to save money for Coronavirus crisis and the supplies.

Always check the (latest) facts with your country.

The numbers and stories are from yesterday or earlier this day. I haven’t seen new numbers so far, when there will be new numbers, rules and interesting situations here in The Netherlands, I will inform you.
