The article titled "The Controversial Pineapple Slice" delves into the polarizing debate surrounding the use of pineapple as a pizza topping, a combination that has divided pizza enthusiasts. Despite its name, Hawaiian pizza was invented by Sam Panopoulos in Canada, inspired by the sweet and savory flavor profiles found in Chinese cuisine. The creation, which includes pineapple, ham, and cheese, has been both celebrated and criticized, with some people, including celebrities like Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson, embracing it, while others reject the idea of fruit on pizza. The piece concludes by inviting writers to contribute to the publication "The Brain is a Noodle" with their own takes on unexpected food combinations.

# Opinions

- Some individuals strongly oppose the idea of pineapple on pizza and believe it should be banned from the topping list.
- There are enthusiasts who welcome the combination, considering it a "heavenly slice" and a delightful Canadian Hawaiian treat.

Some scoffed at the marriage of the unlikely combo.

The sweet, succulent, delicious fruit of the tropical gods falling in love with the saucy crusted bliss with melted cheese.

And so it began. Pineapple on pizza.

But controversy soon filled the land by those who would prefer to have it banned.

A few say aloha to a heavenly slice of this Canadian Hawaiian delight, *** while others say hey, no way, Ray.

Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson says proudly it’s his jam, he likes his pizza with pineapple and ham, at least that’s what he says on Instagram.

Others will eat pizza with pepperoni or mushrooms on top but when it comes to pineapple, I guess they will not. Tell me, What would you do, if I posed this unlikely question directly to you?

***Note: Come to find out from editor Lucy the Eggcademic — that despite being called Hawaiian pizza, pineapple pizza is actually a Canadian creation. Sam Panopoulos claimed that he created the first Hawaiian pizza at the Satellite Restaurant in Chatham, Ontario, Canada in 1962. Inspired in part by his experience preparing Chinese dishes which commonly mix sweet and savoury flavours, Panopoulos experimented with adding pineapple, ham, bacon. — Wiki source.
