The Complexity of It All
Ecclesiastes Poetry
Am I happy, really? Or am I just lying to myself? All of this keeps fading away And I keep running every fucking day
Am I running from myself? Or am I running from everybody else?
When I lay down, I get to taste conscious death And I feel at peace Running away from all that’s preventing me from resting in peace feels good I’m addicted And I don’t care
Lay me down In the only place, I find solace In the only place where I can be myself
Lay me down So I can close my eyes And forget all the pain that surrounds me All the pain that fills everyone’s eyes
There is no hope in this broken world There is only more pain Until you find those people who feel like novocain But it only lasts for awhile While you’re here, you can never be sane
The clock turns My life burns My heart yearns For something real But it won’t be granted You see… We’re stuck here Planted Our lives held for ransom Until we meet our maker
