The Colors of the Ocean

A few words for someone special

Blue, the ocean flirting with the sandy sea, Hugs the shore, then runs away, Afraid of commitment, but desperate for love, Comes back again, again on repeat.

Blue, the dress you wore by the sea, Intimate hands, intertwined, Three words lost, hidden, and afraid, You are the shore and I am the sea.

Green, the lively color of the ocean be, Filled with algae, phytoplankton, and other debris, Feeding on the rays, while rays feed beneath, Breathing in poison so the world can breathe.

Green, the gems that clung to your ear, Catching rays, reflecting the shimmering sun, I lay on your lap reflecting on my poisoned deeds, You are the algae, I am the sea.

Black, the ocean hides its secrets deep, Under pressure, begging for release, Trieste traveled thirty-six thousand feet, To reveal the world hidden beneath.

Black, the curls cascade down your back, You poke, prod, and persevere, To understand a mind misunderstood by many, You are Trieste and I am the sea.

Red, the glistening ocean at dusk, Tired, troubled, thinking of sleep, A final show of beauty before bed, A reflection of those it looks up to.

Red, the passion you enthrall me in, An infection that fills my body with glee, I mirror the passion, admire the person, You are the sky and I am the sea.

Color, the oceans shifts throughout the day, Blue, green, red, and black, with much more in-between, But in a glass, there is no color you can see, Transparent, bare, for all to see.

Color, the vivid shades you paint in me, I’m colorful in ways I never thought I’d be, But through it all, you see right through me, You are the glass and I am the sea.

These words were inspired by a person very near and dear to my heart. She has been with me through a lot, seen the flawed person I am, and accepted me. I feel like I’ve grown as a person, trying new things and exploring the person I might one day be. But no matter how my colors might shift, or how I might change in the future I know she is someone I can be open with.

I think it’s important that we find someone who we can fill our lives with color but also see the flaws and see us for who we really are inside. I’m thankful that I’ve found that person, and hope that everyone finds someone to enrich their lives as well.

And last week I came across a cute and funny poem. In her words, it was an attempt at poking fun at rhythms and rhymes by Jessica Stan. I think it worked and found it very entertaining. Check it out!

Thank you for reading and have a great day!!!
