The Colors of 38 Years
A Poem
Happy Anniversary - September 19, 2019
He watched Her walk in a white dress of anticipation A child anxious for wishes to be granted Believing The ritual of marriage provided possibilities
Barely adults Clenched tightly, pale hands turned crimson A cry sparked happy tears fused with fear Consciously Accepting new life with expectation
Harsh truths Painted the world black with obligatory death Inescapable losses invaded daily habits Reminding Beginnings open the door to inevitable ends
Life’s reality Splattered moments with blood red pain Faded by brushstrokes of laughter Accentuating A blush, a tint of promise, and hues of pleasure
Creating a Canvas of memories assembled chaotically Splattered with passion, senses, and reality Believing A masterpiece is only complete when life is finished
