The Coffee Invite
A Poem by David Grant
The Coffee Invite. Can I buy you a cup of coffee, Or maybe a cup of tea? Should I buy a giant muffin That you can share with me? I would love to get to know you And find out who you are. Maybe I could invite you for a drive, In some fancy foreign car? It is a pity I don’t own one, I am not a famous star. I’m just a normal guy looking for a normal girl. I’ve been looking for a long time now and you are the best in the world. I like everything about you, That is just a fact, I love the way you talk and I love the way you act! I love your conversation both surreal and abstract. I love it that you are clever Philosophical and wise But most of all I love the gentle, kind, loving look I see in your eyes.
