The Cheeky Grin Gives Him Away

February Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Statues”

No fish left in the pond.

Since ancient Roman times, people have been known to place small stone figures in gardens. Gnomes with magical powers were first talked about in the 15th century. By the 18th and 19th centuries gnomes were popular in Europe as garden ornaments.

A garden gnome carrying a fish is just one of many variations. They all carry with them a mythology of protecting the territory they patrol. However, this one has more the air of a poacher than a gamekeeper. He might try to act the innocent, but there are no fish in the nearby pond.
