The Cave
And the valley
I awoke in a cave. Despite the fact that I was lying on the ground with my head upon a rock I felt as though I awakened on a feather bed and pillow.
A sound reverberated throughout the cave. It was a vibrating tone. It sucked me into that sublime rhythm. I was vibrating to a tone of sublime peace.
I stood up and looked around me… I saw nothing but the cave but I could feel the sound echoing off the walls of the cave. I could feel it echoing throughout my body and mind. And it seemed to go beyond that.
I began walking towards what I felt like was the entrance to the cave. The path led me slightly downhill. I stepped over layers of rock. The tone followed me. The sound filled my every movement.
Eventually, I reached the entrance to the cave. I stepped outside. The sound followed me outside. I looked out across an immense desert valley. I could see mountains in the distance. I could see a clear night sky above. My entire body was vibrating as I walked across the stones.
The cool night air got sucked into my being. I could feel every fiber of my existence in this giant valley. I could sense the totality of the valley.
As I looked out across the valley I realized that I had no sense of time. Did I walk out onto a valley from the distant past? Did I step into the future? Was I somehow in the present?
I practically melted with the realization that this valley existed outside of time.
Yet somehow, it contained all time.
And it also seemed to somehow contain all space. It seemed to contain everything. It reverberated with All That Is.
Did this valley exist within me? Did it contain the infinite? Everything that was outside of me as well?
Or was that the same thing?
I wanted to walk out further into this valley but I felt that I was already there.
