The Brain is a Noodle is Now On A Weekly Edition Schedule!
Edition to be released every Weekend

TL;DR:
Changing:
- Private notes and submissions reviewed and responded to every Saturday/Sunday! Not changing:
- Promotion is scheduled daily throughout the week
- Please do not reach out to me on social media about the status of your submission. What’s Changing — A New Publication Schedule!
Pieces will be reviewed and published on Saturday for a weekly weekend edition.
This means that if you submit on Monday, it may take up to five days to review your piece. Friday or even Saturday morning submissions, depending on your timezones, may seem like they’re being reviewed and published quicker. This is because rather than committing to a timeframe since submission (i.e., 24h — 48h), I’m committing a regular Saturday timeslot to edit, publish and promote!
All private notes will be responded to within 1 week (by Saturday/Sunday).
It’s so amazing that you’re excited and wanted to follow up and I appreciate that! It’s just sometimes ironic that I actually spend more time responding to everyone’s “have you seen my piece yet” than actually reading, editing, publishing, and promoting pieces.
What’s Not Changing But Important to Remember — Promotion Schedules and Boundaries
Promotions of all of your pieces is ongoing throughout the week across multiple platforms!
While I’ll be actively editing, publishing and promoting pieces every Saturday/Sunday, some of the promotion work is automated or scheduled in such a way that you’ll continue to be promoted throughout the week as well!
Please do not reach out to me on social media to check the status of your submission.
While I welcome people reaching out and connecting on other topics on social media, getting messages about why pieces haven’t been published on social media feels like being approached at a restaurant by a manager who’s tracked me to ask me why I’m not working. While I truly appreciate how passionate writers are in following up about their pieces, I, too, am just a bunch of electrical circuits in jello motoring around in a soft fleshy body (I’ve human limits).
There are physical limitations to the editor role on Medium, where it might be easy for me to Tweet something from mobile on low battery and low data, but impossible for me to use the same time for reviewing and publishing submissions as the mobile app does not offer these functions.
Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed pieces to The Brain is a Noodle, growing alongside all of the changes!
Life is full of adventures and I’m hoping that this new schedule will allow me to split my time in a more effective way while making sure that I’m fully engaged with everything I do.
A week can be a long time to wait for a piece to be published, so I do respect if writers choose to submit to other publications with quicker turnaround! Feel free to tag me in those pieces all the same because I’m always happy to add promoted pieces to the evergreen Twitter rotation, regardless of whether they’re with TBIN or not!
