The Boy Who Ventured Too Far
Part One
There once was a young boy who liked to venture off. One day he ventured off too far. His mother searched for him for hours with no luck. Eventually a day passed by and then another. Soon enough the whole town was on the lookout for the young boy. One day turned into two. Two days turned into three. Before the mother knew it, a week had flown by. The mother, distraught and worried, didn’t know what to do. She grew frantic with the fact that she was unable to find her son. “Where could he be?” she thought to herself.
On a brisk fall evening, one of the women who had been helping search for the boy, found a shoe next to a pillar by the opening of the woods. The shoe was back with Velcro straps. The bottom of the shoes lit up red and green when you walked. She brought it to the mother knowing it had to be her sons.
The mother began to cry “Why? What have you done to my son?”
The woman who had found the shoe exclaimed “All I did was find the shoe! I brought it here for you.”
The mother was so confused and filled with rage. She began to attack the woman who brought her her sons’ shoe.
The neighbors began to step outside. They couldn’t believe the sight they were seeing. The mother looking wild with rage throwing fists at poor Mrs. Seeter. Mr. Blum called the cops. Within 5 mins the cops were there to break up the fight.
“Well, Well look what we have here?” Officer Mike responded pulling the women apart from one another.
Mrs. Seeter’s blouse was torn to bits while the mother had scraps along her eyes and chin.
“Now I should arrest you two for causing such a havoc. But I’m going to be nice and let you go because I know your son is still missing.”
The Mother embarrassed scurried inside the house, not looking behind her once.
The boy is in a dark room. There is only one single window close to the ceiling. The boy has no recollection on how he got to this strange place. He woke up lying on the cement floor. The boy is freezing cold. He misses his mother. “Where am I?” he repeats to himself. As the sun begins to rise, some light enters the room the boy is in. He is able to make out the room he is in. A door! There is a door!
The boy ventures over to the door in hopes that it would be open. However, when the boy is close enough, he feels around for a door handle or latch so that he can open it. Unfortunately, there is no handle. There is no latch. In fact, there is nothing at all he could grasp. The boy starts to panic, feeling trapped and alone in this strange place. He tries to remember how he got here, but his memories are hazy and fragmented.
The door seems to be the only way out, but with no handle or latch, it seems impossible to open. The boy starts to pound on the door, hoping someone would hear him. But the door is solid, and his efforts are in vain.
As the day passes, the boy grows more and more desperate. He searches the room for any clues or weapons that could help him escape. But there is nothing, just a cold, empty room with a single window high above him. He tries to reach the window, but it is too high and there is nothing to climb on. The boy is trapped.
Days pass and the boy starts to lose hope. He is weak from hunger and thirst, and his mind is consumed with fear and confusion. He lays on the floor, resigned to his fate. But then, he hears a noise. A faint, shuffling sound that seems to be coming from the door. The boy springs up, hope rekindling in his heart. The sound grows louder, until finally, the door starts to creak open.
The boy can’t believe it. He steps back, his heart pounding in his chest. The door opens fully, revealing a dark, shadowy figure standing in the doorway. The boy can’t make out who or what it is, but he feels a chill run down his spine. The figure takes a step forward, and the boy realizes with horror that it is not a person, but a monster. A twisted, deformed creature that seems to be made of shadows and darkness. The boy is paralyzed with fear, unable to move as the man creeps out from behind the shadows.
The boy soon is able to make out the monsters’ legs and then its chest and then its face. It is a man in a mask. The mask is white and worn. There are bugged eyes and a scorned mouth. The man in the mask brings a chair with him and asks the young boy if he knows why he is here.
The young boy sobs, “No.”
The man continues, “This is where all the bad little boys and girls end up. I take them in when they’ve been naughty. Have you been naughty?”
The young boy responds, “I don’t think so.”
The man in the mask asks the young boy for his name.
The young boy responds, “Samuel Larkins.”
The man in the mask says, “Ah, Samuel Larkins,” and throws a plate of soggy eggs at the young boy.
The man grabs his chair, shuts the door on his way out, and leaves the boy in the dark with nothing but the plate of eggs.
