The Bouquet Toss
November Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Happiness”
Wedded soon? Unsure. Wedding prize? Joy!
At many weddings worldwide, a common tradition involves brides tossing their bouquets to a group of single women (or men). The one who catches it is believed to be the next to marry. This lively event often occurs towards the reception's end, sparking spirited competition among single attendees.
Last night, at my best friend’s wedding, the bouquet toss took place. Surprisingly, I caught it — initially just trying to avoid it hitting my head, but my reflexes kicked in.
The MC then invited me onstage and said that the bride and the groom promised a prize for the bouquet catcher. The prize was a hundred bucks — handed to me directly. Of course, I was thrilled.
So, will I be next to follow my best friend’s path? We’ll never know, but that night, I couldn’t be happier for my best friend. Congratulations, you both, and thanks for the prize!
