The Bluest Blue I’ve Ever Seen
Six Word Photo Challenge: Freestyle
Mother Nature paints with pure tones
Last summer, we visited the LeConte Glacier near Petersburg, Alaska. Freezing rain pelted our little flat-bottomed boat from every direction, and the wind gusted sideways.
I think it was the coldest I have ever been. And yet, I could not stay inside the cabin. The absolute wildness of this vast, treacherous, insanely remote place drew me out into the elements like a magnet draws a compass needle to the north. I could hardly operate my camera with my frozen fingers.
I had heard that icebergs and glaciers glow their truest blue when the mists are high, and the sun is scarce. But, up until that point, we’d been greeted with blue skies every day.
But this day was different. I’ve never seen a truer blue than that of these fluorescent icebergs.
