The Black Kite

I’ll be back

Photo by Patrick Hendry on Unsplash

Little Charlie got a Kite. He took it when he won a fight.

The kite was black against the sky. When Charlie heard the whistle cry.

A man in shorts met him on the beach. While Charlie stood there with no speech.

He flew a kite as a boy did sleep. Since Charlie felt this toy, he’d keep.

The boy just lay at Charlie’s feet. As the man with the whistle began a slow retreat.

A black kite hung in the ocean wind. The string is now connected to a Jinn.

Charlie’s eyes are glowing red. The boy on the ground is undoubtedly dead.

A man in shock takes out his phone. He calls the police with a frightened tone.

The cops appear upon the beach. Charlie’s features change while policemen stay out of reach.

They watch in horror as he grows. His skin is stretched, then explodes.

Beneath the skin slept a grinning spirit. Possessing Charlie within every minute.

The black kite sails high in the air. A demon in play makes an unusual pair.

The forgotten boy wakes from his sleep. He opens his eyes but does not weep.

The growing crowd watches this waking boy. He takes his hand and, in a flash, grabs the demon’s toy.

The boy runs, breaking through the crowd. With the kite in tow, he can’t be found.

The defeated demon appears to know. As it screams, it then starts to snow.

Ocean waves glide upon smooth tan sand. The incoming tide settles on demon land.

People watch as the Jinn repeats. “I’ll be back, Billy Wheats!”

They watch the snow shimmer on its skin. Then witness ocean water melt the Jinn.

In a state of questioned reason, the crowd stands still. Statues in silence watching the ocean swill.

The clouds bust around a warming sun. Rays of the light signal the play is done.

They do not see Billy or his black kite. None of them will know what started the fight.

How could they know the world they were shown? The battle between brothers from a dimension unknown.
