The Birth of ‘The Philosophical Quest’

My first publication

It’s been on my mind for a while, and I don’t want to wait any longer. Life is unpredictable, so from that perspective, I felt I just had to do this: start my own publication about something that interests me — philosophy.

I have been a thinker for a long time, but only recently it goes deeper than usual. Through some of the contacts I have made here on the platform, a lot of introspection has taken place lately. Thanks to great interactions between me and fellow wordsmiths, but also with wonderful readers who decided to leave deep, thought-provoking comments. I want to thank you for that.

First I was thinking to start a publication solely for my own philosophical articles. I had the reader in mind, because the benefits of having a publication is that you have a certain influence on the design. It adds an extra touch, because to be honest — a writer’s profile doesn’t look that special to me.

Additionally, if you are a writer like me who has multiple niches, then I think having a publication which is all about one certain niche creates order. I believe also this benefits the reader, and isn’t that what it’s all about? We, writers, are aiming to provide maximum value, don’t we?

Therefore, my intuition tells me to create a few publications, and The Philosophical Quest is the first one.

Is this the right thing to do? Is this an incredibly ill-considered decision? Perhaps. Perhaps not. I have no idea how this journey will be and I have no experience with this at all. I also don’t know if I’m going to allow writers into every publication. Let’s first see how this will go.

In any case, I’m excited. And whether I continue to write alone, or have the honor of other deep thinkers wanting to contribute to The Philosophical Quest — it’s all good. In any case, I want to make something beautiful out of it. A lot can still change because this is all new to me, but that uncertainty is also something I embrace.

This is the current About note:

“The purpose of this publication is to investigate and explore both deep philosophical questions and the everyday aspects of life. No AI gibberish, but real people writing sincere pieces. I believe we are all teachers and students at the same time — every single one of us.”

I will write another piece explaining the submission guidelines. They won’t be that exciting, because I support human creativity — and that must be given the necessary freedom. Rest assured though that I will not edit your piece. I find it very annoying when others do that to my articles.

Whether you become part of The Philosophical Quest to absorb the insights or offer your own — either way, you are an essential part of this publication. In any case, I think it would be great to build an interesting community together where we not only consume wisdom, but create it.
