The biggest mistake you make on Medium (97.98 % Make this Mistake)

Whether you’re just starting or you’re a seasoned writer on Medium, we all make mistakes that slow us down and hurt our productivity.

Today, I want to talk about one big mistake we all make:

#Checking our stats too much.

Even I caught myself checking stats for longer periods of time and in that time I can easily write a full-fledged story.

Yep, I’m guilty of it too, and I bet you are too.

Have you ever thought about how much time you spend looking at your stats?

Personally, I find myself spending way more time checking stats than actually writing.

It’s normal as we are a writer and try to see how much engagement we are getting.

But it gets worse if you give your time only there.

I won’t give you exact numbers because, honestly, it’s embarrassing.

But let’s think about this for a moment.

Why do we do it?

Is there really a good reason to check stats every hour, or could we do it just once a day, maybe before we start writing?

Sure, it’s useful to see how well our stories are doing and what our audience likes.

But realistically, we only need a few minutes each day to do that.

Anything more than that is just a waste of time — it doesn’t help us write better stories or give us anything useful.

So, let’s stop doing it.

# Assuming you are here to write

If you recently joined Medium. Well, there is a high chance that you already got it wrong.

Like every newbie writer, your heart is presumably pumped to work and go at it.

Write! Write! Write! And publish!

Well No! It’s a huge mistake.

You are not just here to write.

Meanwhile, that is the primary reason for creating the space.

But it has since transitioned to feeling more loopholes in society.

  • Medium can be your training ground — Get accustomed to a million writing styles.
  • It can be your LinkedIn — Celebrate and polish your writing portfolio.
  • It can be your mentorship library — Get free mentorship from your comment section.
  • It can be your earning bridge — Earn till you get comfortable with the idea of earning from writing.

Think that way.

Reclaim your time and channel it into crafting captivating stories.
