The Best Way to Follow Writers on Medium
Part 02:
Here on Medium, the best way to follow a writer is to follow every writer after reading one of his stories. This type of following benefits the writer monetarily.
Following a writer after reading his story increases the income of the story you read before following that writer.
Mostly, we follow writers on Medium without reading any of their stories. It increases the number of followers, but it gives no immediate monetary benefit to the writer being followed.
Many followers don’t read any story either before or after following the writer. I can’t understand the logic behind such following.
The number of followers is less important on Medium than it may be on other social media platforms.
Here you need active followers who not only read your articles but also interact with you actively. They enjoy your articles. If a person follows you but doesn’t read your articles, most probably you get no potential benefit from such a follower.
The views, reads, comments and highlights are more significant than followers. If you don’t get views and reads, followers become meaningless.
What does matter most on Medium is an important question. The answer to this question is the reading ratio and the followers who follow you after reading your story are most crucial in Medium’s algorithm.
Earning is calculated based on these two important factors, the high reading ratio, and the number of followers who follow you after reading your story.
It doesn’t make a difference whether your reader is your follower or not. Every read from the member of the Medium Partner Program is important. There’s no distinction between followers and those who don’t follow you.
You need readings more than followers. You should focus on increasing your readers.
The reader is more important than the follower because not all followers are readers.
So, try to follow writers you like to read. Read at least one story of a particular writer before following, if you enjoy the work of the writer then follow that writer. Continue reading the writer you have followed. If you are not interested in a writer, then there’s no need to follow such a writer.
Thank you for reading, your feedback is warmly welcomed and anxiously awaited!
