Volume Three of The Best Illumination Writers Christmas Reads

Photograph by Rodio Kutsaev on Unsplash

I never dreamt when I started this project that it would go so well. I guess it is because deep down, apart from the odd Grinch, we all love Christmas and we love even more a nice Christmas story.

As here we are on volume three already and what better start than a lovely story from none other than our super editor/writer Tree Langdon

I have to tell you, Tree is an absolute joy to work with. She is so feet on the ground, common sensible, and yet she can fly up in the clouds with the best of us on whatever flight of creative fantasy she chooses.

Two things I especially adore about working with Tree is she is a great, supportive and collaborative team player, as well as being a superb leader and follower. Whatever ball falls at her feet she will pick it up and run with it. You couldn't ask for more.

And so on we go towards a time of love, happiness and joy. I'm still an incurable romantic who likes to believe in Father Christmas. Yes I know it was my mum and dad who gave me all those presents, and the best present of all that they gave me was the love, care and tenderness that they could. But they also gave me the romantic idea of a beautiful fantasy, the concept of Father Christmas, a philanthropist whose sole objective is to make children happy. For me, it is one of the best stories there is, a story about a man who gives the world, in return for nothing more than a couple of mince pies and a glass of sherry.

For alternative ideas of what Christmas is all about, please check out the wonderful offerings of our writers, each and every one of them a kind of Father, or Mother, Christmas in their own right, sending us the gift of their writings. Happy Christmas all.
