The Best Financial Advice Based on Your Zodiac Sign
Here’s the money advice you need to know — based on your personality.

Most financial advice is geared towards changing your habits to more effectively manage your money. But what if the advice you received was designed to work with your personality, rather than change it?
Rather than being completely restrictive in your budgeting, allowing yourself to indulge in your natural money tendencies increases the likelihood of success in your financial journey.
So forget the generic money tips; here is financial advice designed to set you up for lifelong success — tailored to your zodiac sign.
Aries — The Compulsive Shopper
According to a nuclear physics group at UC Davis, Aries tend to operate in a compulsive, impatient, and somewhat selfish manner. If you are an Aries, this means you’re more susceptible to the impulse purchases that may take away from your ability to save money.
As an impatient person, you’re likely an avid online shopper dedicated to the immediate gratification of finding exactly what you want with the click of the mouse instead of wasting time browsing the aisle. So instead of immediately pulling the trigger on the ‘purchase’ button, try letting the item sit in your online shopping cart for 24 hours. If you wake up the next morning still wanting it, buy it.
But if you come to the realization that you don’t actually need the item, transfer the money you would have spent on it to your savings account. Not only will you ensure you’re only buying things you truly want, you’ll also reward yourself for resisting those impulse purchases that used to take your money.
Taurus —Living the Lux Lifestyle
A Taurus is a balance of persistent and determined, while also being self-indulgent and at times, greedy. And this tendency to splurge on yourself means you’re drawn to the finer things in life.
To keep your self-indulgence in check, tap into that persistence and determination that makes your Taurus-self so successful. Define what your goals are, write out what you want to achieve in the next few years, and use this plan to keep you in check when your eye starts to wander towards a luxurious purchase. It can be easy to get blinded by the material items if you don’t have a plan for your future dollars.
Gemini — The ‘Here & Now’ Planner
One of my favorite things about my Gemini friends is their lively spirit — Geminis are loved for being youthful and embracing the here and now. But when it comes to finances, this can hinder their ability to look ahead to their future financial needs.
For those of you who embrace the eternally young mindset of a Gemini, setting up automatic transfers from your bank account will take the planning out of saving. Find an amount you can comfortably commit to each month and let technology do the work in investing in your savings and retirement. That way, you can focus on the fun of the here and now.
Cancer — The One Who Saves It All
Cancers are very cautious and protective. They think things through and are often the responsible ones in the group. Because of this, they’re good at saving, investing, and watching those investments grow.
But this means they also don’t know how to enjoy the rewards of their hard work and this can be problematic for the longevity of your financial journey since enjoying your money is an important part of maintaining your motivation.
So while you may not need advice on saving and managing your money, if you’re a Cancer who is afraid to treat yourself try to view your purchases as investments. Splurge on a nice cookware set that will last a lifetime or go for the more expensive gym membership that’s going to offer you more amenities to enjoy for your health. Viewing these purchases as responsible, rather than spontaneous, will give you a little more flexibility to treat yourself.
Leo — The Earners & Spenders
Because of the ambition and creativity that comes naturally to them, Leos often don’t have a hard time earning money. And because they’re a bit pompous, they don’t hesitate to spend that money either.
For those who want to spend on the latest and greatest, it’s important to remember that you can have anything you want, but you can’t have everything you want. So if you’re a Leo looking to improve your savings habits, choose one type of item that you’ll splurge in. For example, if you prioritize having the latest and greatest in technology accessories, that means you can’t also have the latest and greatest in fashion accessories. It’s all about finding the right balance!
Virgo — The Cautious Spender
Virgos are meticulous, cautious, and very analytical — traits that are typically a positive when it comes to managing your money. But like their fellow Cancers, they approach every dollar they spend with an abundance of caution, focusing only on the practicality of what they are purchasing ahead of anything else.
One adjustment to your Virgo mindset is to consider the value of purchase beyond its practicality. Take for example spending money on an Uber ride rather than spending 20+ minutes walking to your destination. Is the convenience of that Uber ride, plus the 20+ minutes of your time worth spending a few bucks on that ride? For sure — so give yourself permission to “splurge” on convenience so that you can invest more of your time into the things you enjoy.
Libra — The Social Butterfly
The easy-going, social butterflies that are Libras tend to overspend on entertainment and anything that involves a good time with their friends. But is it the things you spend your money on when with good company or the time you’re spending with those you care about that makes socializing such an enjoyable experience?
Being with your friends doesn’t mean you have to spend money, so use your easy-going nature to your benefit by coming up with laidback and cost-effective things to do. Going on a hike, hosting a dinner party, or catching up over a cup of coffee are low-cost ways to spend quality time with others. And for the nights when you do want to check out the newest restaurant in town, make sure you budget for the evening and include those sneaky expenses that pop up before you even arrive at the event (think Ubers & new outfits!).
Scorpio — The Secretive One
Scorpios are very determined individuals, but they’re also exceptionally secretive. Even though their determination makes them driven, they often struggle to seek advice and help when planning for their future.
This can be particularly problematic when it comes to financial planning — you won’t be able to maximize your savings and retirement planning if you keep everything to yourself. So think about a financial planner as a financial therapist; someone who is there to help better your life and will protect your secrets just as fiercely as you guard them.
Sagittarius — The Experiential Spender
My sister is a Sag, and she is one of the most free-spirited people I know. She’s always down for an adventure and definitely values her experiences over anything material.
And because she has such a zest for new experiences, she’s quick to drop a few bucks on spontaneous travel plans without seeking out the best deals or making a travel budget. But as she’s gotten older, she’s started to approach her finances as an experience in and of itself. Learning to manage her money, invest in her future, and even researching the best way to earn travel miles has become something she gets enjoyment of because it is an experience that’s enriching her life.
So if you too are a Sagittarius who gets a thrill out of new experiences, try approaching your finances as your next great adventure.
Capricorn — The Judgmental One
Luckily for Capricorns, their practical and disciplined nature makes them great money managers. So unlike the rest of the zodiac signs, they really don’t need any advice about maximizing their savings and planning for their future.
But because they tend to be ahead of the curve when it comes to financial literacy, they can get a bit judgy about the way others choose to spend their money. So the best financial advice for the Capricorn who seemingly has it all together? Don’t mistake your financial wealth with your personal value — just like someone’s financial choices shouldn’t shape your view of their character.
Aquarius — The Giver [To A Fault]
My best friend is the definition of selfless; always the first to give her spare change to a homeless person, looking for ways to maximize her charitable donations, and more than willing to give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She’s a textbook Aquarius.
And if she weren’t careful with her money, her generosity could easily work against her. Luckily, she’s learned that prioritizing having her finances in order actually allows her to be more generous with her money — something that makes her Aquarius heart sing.
Pisces —Totally Uninterested
Pisces are most likely to live in a world where they don’t really have an opinion about money. Their escapist mentality means they don’t want to be bothered with things that can be unpleasant (i.e. budgeting) and their imaginative nature means they aren’t always practical when it comes to money.
But for my fellow Pisces out there, the key is to view money as a tool that can be used to better our lives —if we plan appropriately, we can use our money in a way that matters the most to use. For us, our focus should be on how we are using our money, rather than how we are making it. That way, we can view money as something to feed into our imaginative sides rather than something we try to escape from.
If you’re looking to maximize your financial savings, don’t try to change your personality. Instead, find money-saving habits that compliment your lifestyle. These simple changes can make all the difference in your financial journey.
