WALKING ROUTE 66
The Best Blast From The Past Somehow Unconnected
Or is it that I haven’t made the connection?

My destination for the day was Phillipsburg because, according to GoogleMaps, there was a travel center there, which is usually a truck stop.
I went down to the local Wal-mart to get a tire patching kit, so I can fix one if I ever had a flat again. I also picked up some fresh garlic. I love to eat a couple of cloves of garlic with my meal. Garlic is an excellent immune booster and has antibiotic properties.
I stopped at the Burger King to get some breakfast before getting on the road. The manager was curious about my stroller, and when he learned about my trip, he bought me breakfast.
I must have gone about an hour or so when a car slowed down, and the man asked how far was I going? I told him, and he said he couldn’t take me that far. It was time to educate him. Now he wanted to buy me lunch. I said I had just eaten an hour ago, so he gave me cash to buy lunch.
Another hour later, while I was resting, someone else stopped and handed me a submarine sandwich.

I finally made it to Phillipsburg, and to my surprise, the travel center was not a truck stop; it was an information center. I went in to see if they can provide me some info about where I might be able to spend the night. They said there was a biker that came by a few days earlier and spent the night in the back. I was welcome to do the same, and there was even an electric outlet there if I wanted to charge my devices. Cool beans!
Terry texted me with a phone number to call to get on his Blog Talk Radio. I had a blast talking to him, and answering questions that people from all over the world who were asking live via his website. In the end, he allowed me a shameless plug for donations to support my journey. Not only that, but he also announced on the show that he would be meeting me in Marshfield the next day to buy me dinner and pay me $100 for my time.
Surprised and delighted again.
Then it was time to enjoy the stars and drift off to the Lala Land.
As I think back and ponder.
I recently read a story by Rebecca Romanelli about hitching a ride on an airplane in the middle of nowhere in Amazon, years ago.
People used to hitchhike across the country. My journey was nothing exceptional. It is just people doing what people do. Some follow the inner voice and go on adventures, and others help out these crazy wayfarers for doing what they wish they could.
The world is filled with good people doing good deeds day in and day out. It never makes the news because news, by definition, is an unusual happening. I often joke that I will start worrying when there is nothing but good news on TV.
Stay blessed and be happy, my friends.
Day 40: Another Surprise and Delight (Original blog post).
Just for fun.
I usually come up with a song that goes with the day's events somehow, and usually, it comes to me. This is what came to me today, I don’t know why. But reading the comments on YouTube, OMG.
