Summary

The content is a reflective piece on the morning routine, inspired by the prompt "New Beginnings," and it ends with a call to action for other writers to continue the poem on the theme "Growing."

Abstract

The day starts with a sense of struggle, as the narrator wakes up with lingering dreams and physical discomfort. The presence of a pet dog, with its black nose and tan curls, is a comforting constant, offering silent companionship. The morning's grey dampness adds to the narrator's physical challenges, making even the simple act of letting the dog out a difficult task. Standing on the back deck, the narrator is drawn to the garden, where the practical chore of weeding competes with the desire to write. The piece concludes with an acknowledgment of the inspiration drawn from Moriah Rivera-Lawrence's prompt "New Beginnings," and it extends a creative invitation to others, tagging specific individuals to contribute to "The Never Ending Poem" with the next theme "Growing."

  • The act of tagging specific individuals suggests a desire to foster a collaborative and supportive network among writers.

The Beginning

The day begins poorly holding wisps of Dreams

And determined aches in all of my joints.

The black nose and tan curls of the dog wake me,

His eyes flush with mine,

His head propped on the edge of the bed.

The grey damp of morning sticks to my lower back

And it is a hobble to the kitchen door to let him run.

I pause on the back deck looking down at the garden.

Where even in the dawn it is hard to write,

When there are weeds crowding between the beans.

In response to Moriah Rivera-Lawrence whose prompt was; “New Beginnings”.

The prompt for the next part of The Never Ending Poem is: Growing

I will tag five people who I think would write some awesome stuff, and I want everyone who feels the pull to write about the topic too! The only rule is: tag me in it so I can see, and tag five others to keep this rolling!
