The Beauty of Writing

Gaining tranquility in the process

Stillness. Thoughts are flowing. Your hands hitting the keyboard.

Closing your eyes to gather your thoughts.

Reading again and again what you have written before. Adding to your writing, changing words, taking words out.

Listening to the rain outside. Watching the candle burning. Depending on the day and the night you had before, you are now sitting at your computer, typing, and taking sips of your morning water, tea, or coffee.

Thinking about writing all the time. During the day, before going to bed, and as soon as you wake up. Thoughts and ideas flow like a river that continuously expands its capacity. There are some days when the river is slower and some when you can not even go fast enough to follow. Then there is the waterfall and the stillness of the lake before the river flows again.

Writing is everything and nothing at the same time. It is the night sky with clouds full of stars, cloudy or bright.

Writing penetrates you. It is in your blood, in your heart, and in your mind.

Sleepy or right awake. Writing. Flow. Beauty. A feeling of completeness and glow. An energy that is surrounding your being. It is a part of you. You might question it sometimes. Yet deep down you know it is all of you. Your body reacts to the words as you type. Laugh and cry when you write the words. Joyful when you read them. They make you smile. They make you proud.

The rain is slowing down. The sky is starting to light up. You feel the pain in your wrists and just keep going.

Connections fire and new titles and thoughts emerge. They come and go sometimes so fast that if you do not write them down, they disappear forever. You know that now, you will let them go. The ones you need will surface again.

You are driving and listening to a conversation. A thought comes to mind, it is another title. You are jugging it down at the red light. Another conversation with your mother triggers another memory. Write it down again. Two more new titles that you want to share with the world.

More stories to tell.

You start a new document and just write the tile. You might add a few words or just start typing. You have seven documents open and they are all ready to become a story. A story you share with your friends, family, and the world.

The joy of knowing that you wrote the story and others are reading it, talking about it, commenting on it creates peace in your mind. One thought is down. One story is done. Only a million more to come.

You wrote a book. Then and another one. The books tell your story and tell the story of others. You listen to others to hear their stories. People trust that you will share their stories. Then you start the next book. The stories and ideas keep coming.

The stories become you and you are part of them. You are in each story. It is your story, yet it is also everyone else’s story. You just keep going. Just keep writing. There are always more stories to tell. And one day when you are no more. You are still here through all the stories you have told.
