Here’s one of my favorites:

When it dawns on you how little you actually know and understand, you want to seek and find more. But, if you think you have it right about pretty much all there is, you want to gain or retain the status of being right.

When you manage to control your ego, incredible things happen regarding learning. Your ego no longer holds the steering wheel to decide the course of your future. You want to grow, improve, and become better. And it is all fundamentally linked with (especially accepting to) being wrong.

The beauty of the Dunning-Kruger and the Valley of Despair is that you start to trust the process. You constantly accept, celebrate, and learn from your mistakes. And the linear becomes past.

I believe that makes all the difference in accumulating knowledge and wisdom. The rest is taken care of by the learning process. Interestingly that is very counter-intuitive to what most people desire.

I wrote about an interesting phenomenon related to the Dunning-Kruger effect here. I explained why quickly becoming a CEO of a large organization is similar to winning a lottery. Both are the desire of many but a living nightmare in disguise.
