The Beautiful Beyond

A poem about feeling small when you think of the endless universe.

Recently I was thinking how self-absorbed people on this planet can be. Everything is about them.

Look at me because I’m so important. Well, how important are you in the grander scheme of things? Every time I go out on my rooftop and look into a space that never ends I feel humbled.

I also see infinite possibilities when I stare into that cold black vacuum. It’s ironic that when I look into the void I feel so abundant.

Every time before I go to a job where I feel so insignificant and claustrophobic as I look at those distant stars and think My God this can’t be it. Is this it?

There has to be more than this. I remember when I was a kid my imagination was boundless.

My environment and what my eyes saw in front of me wasn’t enough so I created virtual ones. I traveled to any world I wanted to in my cardboard box spaceship underneath our backyard stairs.

My vision went further because I wasn’t satisfied with what I saw in front of me. I had absolutely no limits.

What happens when we get older and have responsibilities? It seemed like someone just drained the fuel from my rocket and I stopped taking off.

I became grounded in the day-to-day mundane of the life of listless robot. On autopilot not knowing how I made it to work because I had no drive.

I just want to feel alive and reach perpetual highs and tap into the deep well that’s been collecting reign since before my birth I had to go through pain and hurt to realize my worth.

I to go back to childhood dreams because sometimes being an adult can be a nightmare. It’s amazing because everything I was interested in as a child has come full circle and what once seemed impossible then is possible now in this current future.

The unknown wasn’t as scary as it is now. My thoughts didn’t have barbed wire fences and I had no border and I wasn’t bound.

I am free to be

That architect

That’s been divinely Designed Creating a blueprint So sublime Heavenly bodies

I gaze up into

Are just a reflection of what’s in my mind

Galaxies are like raindrops In the ocean called the Universe I belong I am upon a new dawn Of the beautiful beyond.

If you like this you’ll like my other one The Beautiful Void. This probably will be a trilogy. One more to do.
