The Battle For Your Mind

What you will lose by expecting good in a bad world

How many people portray a go with the flow attitude, when internally they are living fists clenched? Personally, I would say the majority of the American population.

The label control freak is reserved for those desiring efficiency and order with no room for interruptions and distractions into day-to-day operations. The control freak micromanages others to fit unrealistic expectations, fears ambiguity, and takes over because no one can do it right. Most of all, they believe they have full control over anything and everything: Life plans, people, job, money, weather, etc.

Chances are someone you know popped into your head as you read the above description. But, the reality of the control freak is that every human on earth aims to control. When something gets nudged out of place, the average person struggles to take the passenger seat and see what happens.

Suffering is one of the biggest, cold, hard facts of life. Everyone experiences suffering in some shape or form whether it is anguish, pain, grief, or torment.

Maybe gratitude aids you as you tackle the distressing thoughts and events in your life. Or perhaps, you take the easy route- Go out with the friends every other night or so to wash down the woe and avoid the thoughts like covid-19. Sure, these Band-Aids provide a safety net for some time, but difficult times leave scars upon scars when unaddressed.

How should we process and handle life’s guarantee of suffering?

It is absolutely normal to see bad things as bad but its benefit is a different story. If you have noticed the chaos erupting recently, then you will come to a quick realization that the world is unpredictable and disordered. The real question should be, why do we expect good things to happen in a world like this?

If we are surprised when bad things happen in the day, then we allow ourselves to get caught up in the bad thing rather than targeting and solving it. We are expecting sugar blossoms and an all-you-can-eat buffet in the Forbidden Forrest .

In order to solve the problems and reach some contentment we need to embrace the suck.

Don’t negate the feelings that come with the issue but guide them to process and handle the difficult things. Joy in the midst of difficult circumstances is the most powerful tool right now. If you can find joy during the let downs, trials, social disorder, and in anything else thrown at you, you will be stronger for it.

Our perspectives are powerful. How we process the copious amount of information and data determines the path we follow or the path we make to follow. We have to train our mind like a muscle. It takes continual intentionality and awareness.

There is a battle being fought for the control of your mind: truth vs. lies, fears vs. confidence, peace vs. chaos. Where your thoughts center, there your actions, emotions, and views center also. Game on.
