Summary

The narrative "The Bargain" portrays a wealthy man's internal struggle and despair despite his material success.

Abstract

"The Bargain" is a poignant short story that depicts the life of a man who, despite being the epitome of success and wealth, is deeply unhappy. He is admired by many for his luxurious lifestyle, symbolized by his designer possessions and immense fortune. However, his interactions with the President of the United States and the constant attention from journalists only serve to highlight the disparity between his external success and internal turmoil. The man feels lost in a metaphorical deep space, where people are looking for him but not truly seeing his distress. At the pinnacle of his financial success, he finds himself at his emotional nadir, desperate for divine intervention to escape the misery of his existence. The story concludes with the man in a hospital bed, regretting the pact he made for his wealth, and seeking a way out of his pain.

The Bargain

Just a short story with a message that’s very important for the contemporary world

Courtesy of Britannica ‘Grim Reaper’.

he is a desirable bachelor, every girl’s dream,

he has Patek Philippe on his wrist, Dolce and Gabbana covering his eyes, and Louis Vuitton clothing,

he has millions in his pockets lying to be thrown as scrap paper, he can wipe his arse with a $100 banknote every day,

journalists are swarming around him just like always, just yesterday the POTUS had called him for some monetary advice

but he has lost himself in limbo in deep space

where all are searching for him but no one looking out,

his net worth is touching the skies when he is at his lowest point,

he’s begging God to emancipate him from the horror that is his life and hoping he succeeds this time…

he is crying with no noise, blood is falling off his cheeks as he lies in the hospital bed searching for a sharper blade this time and rethinking the choices that he made

when he sold his soul and reached a bargain.
