The Attic

An acrostic poem

Photo by Peter Herrmann on Unsplash

Lurking in the darkness of the attic, we had one hastily stuffed box of books, report cards, toys from our childhood, and more —

For decades forgotten, until one day, searching for an ugly Christmas sweater we needed for a party, we dusted off the history and discovered our long-lost memories.

Thank you to Galit Birk, PhD for this acrostic poetry prompt: Lost and Found! Check out her piece here:

Hi, I’m Lucy and as a kid, I lived in a house that didn’t have an attic, so watching movies and reading books about attics always fascinated me. Instead of keeping memories in a dusty box somewhere, a lot of my childhood things were thrown out or donated to other family friends. In a way, I yearn for an unplanned memory capsule haphazardly stuffed away to “declutter”, and can only live this idea through fiction.

Hop down the rabbit hole? 🐰🕳
