Summary

The author describes a creative writing technique called "Mind Movie Writing," which involves visualizing ideas as movies in the mind to enhance the writing process.

Abstract

The concept of "Mind Movie Writing" is introduced as a method where writers visualize their thoughts as movies on a mental screen. This technique leverages the natural process of the mind creating images and narratives, akin to watching a film. The author emphasizes the importance of selecting the right images to set the tone for the writing, allowing ideas and concepts to naturally develop into drafts. These drafts serve as a foundation for organizing thoughts and information logically. The mental preparation from visualization aids in the smooth transition into the development stage, where the writer adds depth to the draft. The visualization process continues to play a crucial role as the writer watches the topic unfold in their mind, typing out the narrative as it plays. This method can lead to rapid completion of articles, with the author noting that a piece can be finished in as little as twenty minutes. The article aims to introduce this intentional practice to other writers, suggesting that while many may use this art unconsciously, conscious application can enhance their writing experience.

The Art of Mind Movies and Writing

Not Scriptwriting, but something that all Writers usually do!

I have called this art that I use “Mind Movie Writing” because it is like watching a movie on the mental screen in front of you.

Mind movies and the art of dynamic visualization have always intrigued me as I love to watch movies, television series. A few years ago I decided to use mind movies for writing. We know that our inner thoughts are like watching movies on a mental screen. All I needed to do was to use the same technique to write any material I wanted.

Image: The right image used for an article can set the pace and tone for the reader and the subject. Choose your images well for your presentation.

Ideas and Concepts: I usually get an idea or a concept that comes into my head and then I start to develop my article or story from that point.

Draft: I keep my ideas as drafts to write later when I am ready. The instant that an article draft is created, the mind starts placing facts and information in a logical pattern like a jigsaw puzzle.

Mental preparation: I find that coming back to write an article from its draft form is much easier, as the mind is mentally prepared to tackle the subject.

Development: This is an important stage when I am ready to add more information to my draft and come back to it and start the development process.

Visualization: It is at this stage of the creation of the article that I begin to visualize each aspect of the topic, as I watch it unfold in my mind. As the mind movie begins to play out on my mental screen, I keep writing my thoughts down.

Presentation: The presentation of the article is important as it does impact the interest and engagement of the reader. I notice that the article begins to take a logical sequence as I keep viewing my mental movie and typing it all down. Sometimes, a complete article can be completed in as little as twenty minutes like this one.

I hope that this article will introduce you to the evolving art of mind movie article and story writing, which I have created intentionally for myself and now for you to practice and enjoy. We all use this art, but not many of us do it knowingly.

Enjoy your next mind movie and create a wonderful article, story, or poem after watching it and it usually helps to be a movie fan.
