That Time I Redefined “Adventure”
Ever tried picking up a new hobby when you’re not as spry as you used to be? Let me tell you, it’s not for the faint-hearted. Last summer, I decided to take up skateboarding. Yes, you read that right. Me, a middle-aged dude, on a skateboard. My kids thought I’d lost my marbles, and my neighbor, Bob, he just popped some popcorn and watched the show from his porch.
Picture this: me, wobbling on a skateboard, going down a slight incline in my driveway (which felt like Mount Everest at the time), and then BAM! Gravity did its thing. But hey, I learned a valuable lesson — life’s too short not to embrace the faceplants.
Embracing the Midlife Crisis… or Not?
So, the stereotype goes that when you hit midlife, you buy a sports car, right? Well, I said, “Nah, let’s get a food truck instead!” Best. Decision. Ever. I mean, who needs a Ferrari when you can have tacos on the go? Plus, it’s been a fantastic way to connect with people, share stories, and yes, occasionally burn a burrito to a crisp.
The Wisdom of Age (Sort of)
They say with age comes wisdom, but I think it’s more like with age comes a carefree attitude. I’ve started saying what I think (more than I used to), and let me tell you, it’s liberating. Did you know that flamingos can only eat with their heads upside down? Random, but hey, that’s the kind of gold you can expect at this age.
A Few Missteps Along the Way…
Not everything’s been smooth sailing, of course. Like the time I tried to be “hip” and use all the latest slang. Ended up telling my boss he was “lit AF”… at a board meeting. Pro tip: maybe understand the slang before you use it, especially around Gen Z’ers. They’re ruthless, I tell ya.
