The Answer To The So-Called “Great Resignation” Broke-Ass Americans Are Talking About Is Job Hopping! Confessions From A Notorious Job Hopper.

I have a confession to make!

An empty desk that used to belong to a Job Hopper. Picture from commons.wikimedia.org Joselromero $$$

Yes, folks and dear readers, I have a confession to make! This confession has been hidden and only used as a weapon when I decide it's time to leave a place I do no longer like!

Yes, my friends, I’m a notorious job hopper and have been for many years. Job hopping has its benefits in that whenever I feel its time to leave I begin to truly work my magic while I spam the shit out of the job boards especially on the weekends so that on Monday my inbox and voice mail is full of HR people and Head Hunters wanting to meet up.

If the Job Boards were like Tinder I would be getting laid every night forever!

How I Became A Job Hopper.

It was long ago in a galaxy far away when I was working at this position, I enjoyed the job right out of college never was late or even went on vacation and a year later I began to hear about layoffs. Me being ignorant at the time I did not think of this as a problem as I was an excellent worker and did what I was told(What we all tell ourselves when layoffs are going to happen)

On a beautiful June morning, I come in ready for work, and while I was getting comfortable to begin my day I see some “Suits” go into the conference room. I did not recognize who these people were as I have never seen them before but at that moment I knew something is up!

I remember seeing the HR People walking around the office area and chatting which is something they never did, usually they were located on the other side of the office and rarely came over to this side. They lowered the blinds in the conference room where those people were.

That day I was on pins and needles as I saw people walking by my cubicle crying quietly.

As I sat at my desk no one said anything the whole office floor was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. An email popped up on my Outlook and there it was! The dreaded email!

The breath was knocked out of me!

I walked the aisle slowly trying to keep it together which was hard as I’m walking towards my death. I sat down in front of them and both HR people greeted me all happy and I said nothing.

Well not really.

I really wanted to curse their whole families and throw some chairs about to show how angry I was and emotionally distraught, but then I would probably get beat up by the two burly security dudes standing behind them.

In the end, I got laid off!

It hurt because I gave it my all

But I guess that was not enough for them.

At that moment, I made a vow to myself to never allow this to happen again!

And ever since that day in June 2000, I learned a valuable lesson and that is that employers don’t give two shits about you. So you have to be the same way.

Loyalty To A Job Is For Dogs!

I remember at times while interviewing I would the occasional speech about how I should be “loyal” to your bosses blah blah! I would just nod my head like I agreed, but it was just a way to keep the interview moving forward.

Loyalty is usually something that dogs do because they know they need you to help them live in society. Humans on the other hand can take care of themselves and navigate through this society without an issue.

I remember working in IT and getting a list of names from HR of people getting laid off from their position. My job was to lock their log-in accounts so that they do not have access to log into it again after they have been “Let Go!”

It always happened on a Friday which I think is stupid at least for me I would be stressed out the whole weekend trying to figure out what I was going to do on Monday!

I have seen people waste away working for the same company and in the same position for years! I have seen those very same people act shocked when they are no longer needed. Like they thought they would never get fired or laid off.

Stop thinking like that because YOU ARE REPLACEABLE!

There is nothing more shameful than being led out of the building by the building security.

I have been there and the first time I was so ashamed of losing my job. Now when it does happen I walk out with my head up and say “Good Bye” to everyone like a fucking Rock Star! I will never ever let them see that they have the upper hand because they don’t.

The Great Resignation Is Just A Ploy!

Quitting your job is never a good idea!

I understand that you may be working in a toxic environment, or have a toxic Manager or feel like your skills are not being put to the test. Still quitting is NEVER the right thing to do. Remember you have responsibilities and whether or not you have a job they will need to be taken care of.

Rather than just quitting your job like those thousands of knuckleheads in this so-called “Great Resignation” why not learn how to be a job hopper?

I remember getting an IT position and 3 months later leaving for another job because the one I had at that time I felt was holding me back. Not only that after I got the new job my salary went up by 3,000 dollars more than I was getting before.

When you quit your job you have no money coming unless you are the few Americans who do have some online income coming in, but for the rest of you, it's going to be empty pockets and bills piling up.

Not only that, but the longer you are out of the job market the harder it will be for an employer to hire you for a job once they notice on your resume that you have been out of work for a while.

Stop letting your poor bleeding heart and pride think for you and use your brain! Life is a Chess game and you have to plan your moves in advance so that you never get caught with your pants down like most people.

Learn to play their corporate game!

You’re Incorporated

Learn the game and play like the corporation's play. You owe them nothing but they need you. The trick is knowing when they no longer need you is when you need to job hop.

I never ever get comfortable at one place for too long. The minute you stay at a job for too long your skills begin to stagnate as you do the same thing every time like clockwork and if you are not keeping your skills shiny and new you will get left-back.

Most people do not understand that what makes you employable and marketable are your job skills and if you do not keep adding to the list of things you can do you will soon go the way of the Dinosaur.

When you are looking out for you opportunity begins to open for you! Need a raise and your boss says “No!” time to get your own raise! He or she can keep their bullshit 10 cents I don’t need it because I can go out there and give myself a bigger raise than my boss will ever give me.

I spoke to my wife who was sitting next to me when the recruiter called and I asked for her 2 cents, and she told me to take the job once I told her how much I would be making as well as getting a chance to learn new software and systems which will definitely work for me.

So I left the Orlando job without notice which is the wrong thing to do, but I had to give the okay to the recruiter that night. Monday came and I was in Hartford for training and all was well with my world!

Being a job hopper is like hunting! You always have your ears, eyes, and email open for any new positions coming up. Being a job hopper is a lifestyle and you just don’t do it when you get fired or laid off. You stay on the game all the time and when you see the bullshit coming down the pipe you start sending emails to recruiters and job vacancies and within a few hours or days, you will get a response.

Get that boot off your neck G! You call the shots just keep it to your inside voice.

You’re incorporated baby!

Never Tell Your Master What You Are Doing!

Or something similar to this I read from the “Art Of War”, working in secrecy is the best thing you can do as a job hopper. You see being a job hopper is frowned upon in the corporate world, and I can see why it's because they no longer can threaten you about being fired or laid off. They know that you can just get back out there and get picked up quickly especially when you have marketable job skills.

Remember DO NOT TELL ANYONE if you decide to find another job. The very people you work with can snitch on you or throw you under the bus and when your bosses find out it will be the hooks for you!

No need to quit most of the time they will let you leave on your own without being escorted out. At times they would probably be annoyed but in the end, this is a money game and it's nothing personal it's just business.

I’m Getting That Itch Again!

It’s been about 2 years since I have been job hopping, but recently I have been getting the itch again. The job hopping instinct is happening again and soon I will make a jump to another position in another company!

I have job hopped probably more than 15 times during my corporate life and once I get my plan figured out there may be a 16!

In Conclusion.

Let me just state again that job hopping is seriously frowned upon by the corporate elites. To them, we are irresponsible and unstable people! In reality, though we want to be happy and stable, and to find that we have to be out here job hustling like a drug dealer to make things happen for us.

It's all about control! They want you to stay there and be a good little worker bee, then one day you either lose your job or die because of it.

Don’t waste time following old ideas because I can guarantee you that the corporation you are working for is trying to figure out how to squeeze more work out of you without having to pay you extra.

Oh! And one final thing!

YOU ARE REPLACEABLE!

and so are they! Joselromero $$$
