The 7 Types of Wealth
It’s Not Just Material
Dr. Myles Munroe is one of the most insightful people I have ever witnessed. He’s like Tony Robbins and Denzel Washington in one person — seriously, He’s that awesome.
After watching one of his lectures on YouTube, I felt it vital to share the information I received — it was simply too good not too.
This will also help me to retain it better, and of course, open your mind to some of the best advice on wealth you can get — true wealth that is.
Myles Munroe summarised wealth into 7 categories, all of which are vital to hold if a person is to truly be rich.
Material wealth is not included in the list because Dr. Munroe does not consider it to be “wealth”, and this is apparent with how much we hear the phrase, “money does not make you happy.”
Material wealth is the product of the 7 types of wealth below, and flows in abundance when all 7 are balanced, increased, and retained:
Spiritual Wealth
This type of wealth is to do with a person’s heart and their relationship with God. Dr. Myles Munroe summarised this perfectly by quoting from the Bible:

There are 3 ways to increase your spiritual wealth, or “The 3 R’s” as I call them. These are:
- Righteousness
- Resistance
- Remembrance
Righteousness involves action that is in line with moral reasoning. In other words — doing the right thing. Smiling for the joy of others, lowering our gaze, telling the truth and building a legacy of charity and trust increases our spiritual wealth greatly. Think about the feeling you got the last time you gave money to a beggar, or provided a meal for your family that they thoroughly enjoyed — felt good right? — this was your spirit showing its satisfaction.
Resistance are actions that include resisting temptation. The more you run away from evil temptations, the stronger your spiritual wealth will be. For example, resistance to lying, backbiting, stealing and murdering that guy who keeps annoying you, are all signs of a wealthy spirit — well done!
Remembrance involves being in line with nature and our true purpose on this Earth. The more you are in line with this truth, the more in line you will be with your spirit; and this, indefinitely, increases your spiritual wealth. Remembrance of God is the main way we align ourselves with our spirits because He is the source of it. Actions like meditation, reading of scripture, and the other R’s above, all help us to remember our purpose, and this increases spiritual wealth.
Soulicle Wealth
Soulicle wealth is the wealth of your Soul. This branches out into 2 subsections:
- Emotional Intelligence
- Intellectual Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand and manage your emotions, as well as the emotions of those around you. It is the ability to empathise, connect, and harmonise with others. Increasing our Emotional Intelligence amplifies our Soulicle Wealth to mountainous levels.
Gratitude, affirmations, positivity and good thoughts, as well as spreading your emotional Intelligence to others, and using it to uplift friends, family, and strangers will boost it even more.
Emotional Intelligence is one of the most powerful, yet overlooked tools we have as humans today. Honing this tool will drastically increase the other areas of wealth in your life like rainfall fills the sea.
Intellectual Intelligence consists of the thoughts, wisdom and knowledge brewing in your mind. The more you feed your intellect, the more power you gain in the form of Soulicle Wealth.
As a result of your Soulicle Wealth, you will increase your wealth in all other areas. For example, by taking the time to research into a specific craft, you have now found the tools you need to make money out of it. The same way I worked on my writing and am now able to produce awesome articles like this — I hope. Therefore, an increase in one area of wealth, leads to an increase in another — complementing each other like a fine drink after a delicious meal.
The Soul is a combination of your Mind, Will, and Emotions. This would mean that your Soul is You. Increase the power and strength of your Mind, Will and Emotions and this will cause your Soul’s wealth to increase.
Books, books, books, books, books. Read, read, read, read, read. Wealth, wealth, wealth, wealth, wealth.
Physical Wealth
“Health is wealth.” Yes indeed it is. Physical wealth includes health and fitness. It includes your connection to nature and how well you look after your vessel.
The greater the shape you keep yourself in, the wealthier you will become, not just physically, but in all other aspects of wealth and life. For example, you can’t write an awesome article if you just ate 3 cheese burgers. You won’t be able to concentrate. I just had 3 oranges and now I feel like Magneto from X-Men — you know that mind-bendy guy who has awesome concentratio — ’ anyway, physical wealth is probably the biggest one on this list for me, because the body is the resting place of the soul and spirit, your brain, as well every other organ that allows us to live a happy and fulfilled life.
So to keep your physical wealth high is probably the biggest catalyst for increasing the other types of wealth in your life; and to the opposite effect, If you are watching pornography, smoking too much, eating way to much fast food and not exercising, the wealth of all other areas will decrease due to the negative effect on the mind, body, soul and spirit.
You are what you consume!
Social Wealth
This concerns your friends and family — your Network.
“Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.”
The statement above is the realest one we’ll ever come across, but one that most people grasp later on in life. I have just recently understood the impact that friends will have and I’m glad I now grasp how important it is to be surrounded by achievers.
“Your friends must be assets to your life.” — Dr. Myles Munroe
When Prophet Joseph was locked away in prison, it was the power of his Social Wealth that managed to get him out. A fellow friend and released prisoner had told the King of Egypt that he knew someone that could help with the problem they were facing. Joseph was then released, and then went onto becoming the treasurer of Egypt. This shows us the absolute power of Social Wealth — Your Network
“Your circle is your social wealth.”
Influential Wealth
This is the level of impact you have on the world. Tim Denning, for example, would have huge Influential Wealth because of the size of his outreach on Medium.
Another example is Barack Obama; for instance, his children only need to mention his name through the power of his influence, before the restaurant owners give them the best seats in the house.
This is power! The ability to change thoughts and emotions through the influence you have on other people.
“Increase your value, and you Increase your Wealth of Influence.” — Dr. Myles Munroe
Community Wealth
This is similar to influential wealth above, but is focused on how you improve the lives of others. Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Malcolm X, Muhammed Ali and Jesus, all had humongous amounts of Community Wealth. They changed the course of the global community forever, through their hard work and perseverance, and people will always remember them for it. Even when they have passed, they still carry this wealth, and we feel it throughout the world.
“If you help other people get what they want, you will develop wealth in the Community. If you help solve other people’s problems, you will develop wealth in the Community. If you help the poor, the destitute, the drug addicts, and the people who are abandoned, you are developing wealth in the Community. If you reach out to those who cannot help themselves, you are becoming rich in Community Wealth. And when your funeral comes, the people will only talk about your Community Wealth…“ — Dr. Myles Munroe
It’s what you do for other people that makes you rich… You are never remembered for what you saved. You are remembered for what you gave… We do not remember Steve Jobs for his money, we remember him for the I Phone he gave us.
Generational Wealth
This is how you pass on all the other wealth streams above to the next generation. People to carry on your legacy. This is power.
“You are wealthy if your Grandchildren can benefit from what you are doing… If you consume everything on yourself, you are poor.” — Dr. Myles Munroe
Dr Myles Munroe summarised, in 3 steps, how we may begin to achieve the 7 types of wealth:
- ‘Become wealthy towards God’ (The 3 R’s) — Spiritual Wealth.
- Let your soul become wealthy, read, study, learn, and grow. Increase your emotional and intellectual intelligence — read — Soulicle Wealth.
- Develop your physical body. ‘Don’t smoke, drink, or look at evil things, or evil material. Don’t abuse your body.’ Take care of your body, and you will experience a wealth like nothing else — Physical Wealth.
When you have mastered the 3 above, you will then have a greater ability to increase the other types of wealth, and as a result, increase your value in the world.
In other words:
First change your inner world. Only then can you effectively change the outer world.
To Summarise, the 7 Types of Real Wealth are:
- Spiritual Wealth
- Soulicle Wealth
- Physical Wealth
- Social Wealth
- Influential Wealth
- Community Wealth
- Generational Wealth
Remember this forever and I promise you, money, success, power and riches will flow like an avalanche down Mount Everest, as though the snow was gold and diamonds.
I really hope you enjoyed this article. I think this is the most valuable piece of information I have received in a very long time, and I hope it benefitted you.
Thank you for reading!
