The 5 Best College Classes I Took

They didn’t even feel like school.

As my junior year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign comes to a close next week, I want to take a moment to express that college is difficult.

But college is also fun!

Even school.

During my time thus far, I have taken some fun classes at UIUC. Here are the 5 best classes I took so far:

Intro to Human Nutrition

I took this class spring of freshmen year. It is what it is in the name.

The class explored our human bodies, what we should and shouldn’t eat, and how our bodies are some of the most important aspects of the world. It also dove into the waters of such topics like obesity and the digestive system.

I loathe much of science. Thank goodness other people in the world are smarter than me doing it. Nevertheless, I enjoyed taking this nutrition class as it opened my eyes to not only body but how I should be treating it.

This class is recommended for any science fanatics, gym sharks and anyone serious about their health.

History for the Big Ten

Illinois has been with the Big Ten Conference since day one in 1896.

This class I took explored just that: the history of the conference from the humble beginning to now. It explored such topics as conference expansion, race, scandals and brand building.

It’s great for any sports man, or anyone looking to learn more about how the Big Ten Conference came to be.

The American Presidency

This next class has got to be one of my all-time favorites.

I’ve been a fan of the presidents for as long as I can remember. This class explored the history of the presidency from day one until now. We discussed scandals, expansion of the office, crucial moments in American history and so much more.

This class is recommended for every history buff or anyone looking to learn more about the men who have occupied the White House.

Intro to Creative Writing

I’ve been been writing creatively since a young age.

This class expanded my horizons as a writer and opened my eyes to so many types of writing and writers. I learned everything from memoir to poetry, fiction to drama.

It’s a much-take class for any writer.

American History: Reconstruction to Now

I love my American history, that’s for sure.

This class explored just what it says in the name. There is so much about the history of our country that many people don’t know about. Because of this class, I have a better understanding of what we went through and how our country came to be today.

This is another class recommended for every history buff or anyone looking to expand their knowledge about American history.

Closing Thoughts

College is what you make it, so make it fun! That includes school.

These classes and so many more made learning so much easier and enjoyable. I couldn’t have asked for better classes to take for fun.
