The 3 Worst Types of Food to Bring to Lunch!
It’s lunch time and I think my tummy is leading me to write about food at this time.
I figured I would indulge the desire to write about something that doesn’t come directly from my brain but comes from my instinct to eat right now. I started to do a little research to see what some of the worst foods are for you to put into your lunch.
Many of us rely on grabbing something quickly and heading out the door as we go off to our job somewhere.
That being said, we should take a pause and try to think about what we are putting into our bodies as we throw together something that we will consume later in the work day. With this in mind, let’s take a look at some of the foods that you ought to AVOID putting in your lunchbox.
Frozen Meals
Say it ain’t so! I love frozen foods!
Among the easiest types of lunch to prepare on the fly are the classic frozen meals, but that doesn’t mean that this is what you should take to work with you.
One of the biggest issues with these types of meals is that they have far higher levels of sugar, salt, and fat than what is generally recommended in most cases. In particular, the salt levels of these meals is something to be concerned about.
Salt is used as a preservative to help ensure the freshness of your frozen meal.
However, that same salt can lead to a number of health concerns, including:
- Elevated blood pressure
- Dehydration
- Strain on your heart
For these reasons, you should ditch the temptation to pack a frozen lunch for work.
Giving in to the ease of a frozen meal every now and then isn’t a bad thing, but don’t make it a habit.

Protein Shakes
You need something solid on your stomach!
On the surface, protein shakes seem to be an ideal way to get some nutrients into your body even while you are on the go and don’t have much time to stop for a meal.
The problem with this is that the nutrients contained within a protein shake are not absorbed into the body as easily as nutrients from a standard meal.
Those who rely on protein shakes too often may develop gastrointestinal (GI) problems.
Experts say that you can use protein shakes as an occasional supplement to your diet, but they shouldn’t be used as anything more than that.
Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that protein shakes are a substitute for real lunches.
Desserts
Bro, what are you doing?!
Didn’t anyone tell you that you aren’t supposed to eat sweets as a substitute for other types of food?
Yes, it is okay to treat yourself with something sweet from time to time, but eating a dessert as a primary form of food for your lunch is a bad idea.
You don’t want to spike your blood sugar levels right in the middle of your work day!
Leave that dessert at home where you can use it as a treat for yourself after work.
This will give you something to think about as a reward as you are working through your day.
