The 3 Marketing Tips For You To Successfully Self-Publish

#3: Organise weekly LIVE webinars

In a week, I birthed a book from heartbreak. A week later, I self-published it as an eBook on Amazon and broke my self-limiting boundary of marketing myself with the help of a digital marketer.

I am at the end of the second week of marketing my self-help eBook, and it’s going good. So here are my three marketing tips for you to successfully self-publish.

Side note: This is NOT a ticket to the quick lane to become a bestseller author, but to break into marketing yourself successfully as an indie author.

1. Reviews, reviews, reviews

“It’s hard to get those first one or two book reviews or break into the top rankings. This is why promotion matters so much.” — Biron Clark

Sorry to break it to you, but when you’ve self-published your book, you are only 40% of the way there. Marketing your book is the biggest battle! But it’s OK. I knew this early on as a fellow self-published author friend of mine pre-warned me, so I hired a digital marketer. (He has provided me with these tips I am sharing with you, so I am sure they will help.)

So, first thing’s first: reviews. If you are self-publishing on Amazon, the only way your book is going to rank is through reviews. People believe other people’s opinions. One word says a lot. You know this — you are currently reading my words and accepting them, aren’t you?

Believe in the power of positive reviews and ask as many people as you can. I am fortunate enough to have many friends around the world that are avid users of Amazon, so I asked them all. They wanted to support me as much as they could and found my self-help book eased their anxiety, so they were open to writing reviews!

If you don’t have many friends that are readers, then join Facebook groups and post away. Don’t be afraid, just do it — it’s the only way your book will get the reviews it deserves. You can also ask others to do a “review for a review”. Be creative and get those customer ratings up, then:

2. Network like never before

“Self-publishing can be a lonely process, so it’s very helpful to have the support of friends, followers, and other authors. That’s where effective networking comes in.” — Self Publishing Relief

Networking is marketing. The more you market, the more leads you generate, and that is a top priority when self-publishing! Admittedly, I used to be scared of networking and marketing myself, but now I realise my mission is to spread peace, so I am no longer afraid. Right now, we are all suffering, so I want to help take that away!

Search through all your contacts, clients or people you see active on your social media and reach out to them. Join writing groups or even make a writing group — get on your game!

One marketing tip I did to successfully self-publish was reaching out to a dear friend and mentor I made on here, Kelly Eden. She congratulated me straight away and asked if I would like to write some tips in her weekly newsletter (I never expected this reaction!):

Last but not least:

3. Organise weekly LIVE webinars

“Webinars can have a more significant benefit to your bottom line and overall success than any other form of marketing available — and they do this while being highly cost-efficient.” — Justin Thomas

This marketing tip to successfully self-publish your book may be most important. My digital marketer suggested it straight away to me, and I instantly shuddered away from the idea. Although I am daily teaching yoga online, I didn’t like the idea of just talking to a screen.

Fear got the best of me, but I am all about tackling fear with faith.

My first webinar held on my Facebook page went so well. I was astounded by the turnout. Firstly, you can’t see anyone; it can be quite confusing. However, I purposefully asked people to check-in straight away, and they did! Amazing friends and followers commented in the box, and it spurred me on to ditch my planned discussion and follow my flow.

I’m all about going with the flow, and now is the time for you to do so, too! Sit back and take a deep breath, then talk about your book like it is your baby (it kind of is!). For me, the process of writing my eBook birthed from my boyfriend leaving me. Plus, I found out my parents were splitting up, so there was a lot of emotion and it felt more like a journal than anything else.

People could feel this when I spoke about it. Not only did I talk, but made it interactive and held a Q&A which went well! I then ended the talk with a heart-opening meditation — it was the most magical online experience I’ve ever had.

I now go live every Thursday and look forward to holding them, rather than holding back.

So what are you waiting for? Now is the time to show your fans your face and go live with a weekly webinar to get your book out there!

In conclusion:

The three marketing tips to successfully self-publish are: network, spread your message through a webinar, and get all those reviews!

The process of self-publishing a book on Amazon has given me a myriad of experience in formatting, launching, marketing, and selling a product. It’s pretty amazing — have fun with it!
