The 3 Main Lessons That My Father Has Taught Me In My 20 Years Of Life
Yesterday was a day of recognition and gratitude for all the dads in the world because it was Father’s Day. Father’s Day was nice as I was able to relax and watch a movie with my father like many did.
But as it was nearing the end of the day, I started to think about all the lessons and values my father instilled in me. At the end of my thought, I realized how blessed I am to have a Father in my life who has guided me throughout the process of my life. Now, I would like to give you all a Father’s Day gift by giving you the lessons that I have learned from my old man.
1. Find A Passion
My dad has always reiterated to me how important having a passion is because a life without a passion is a life not well spent. Some of you who are reading this may have found your passion and some of you may have not found it yet. In order to find your passion, you must try different things. Your passion could be music, writing, or film making but don’t be worried if you haven’t found your passion yet as it takes time.
I am glad both my dad and mom introduced me to different stuff as a kid. I tried acting, soccer, and track but I never liked them. But the one thing I truly found a passion for was hockey. I love the game and I put so much effort into the sport. Everyday, I always think about hockey and it is something I have found to love. I plan on playing the sport at the collegiate level and I want to create a business that is related with the sport and hopefully it can help the sport grow. Thank you pops for instilling into me that finding a passion is important in life.

2. Stay To True To Your Values
My father always took this lesson very seriously as this one is very important. In life, you must have and stay true to your values because it can make or break you as a person. A person who doesn’t hold him or herself to any standards or values is a weak-minded person and is very likely to be brainwashed very easily. Values are very important to me and it is something that no one can detach me from having.
My mom always made sure to instill in me that faith is very important and it is something I take very seriously as faith is very integral in my life. My father always made sure that I value being myself and not letting anyone change who I am. Values are very important as they can help lead you to the place in life you are destined to go. Make sure to know what your values are and then make sure you uphold your values as that will be very beneficial for you.

3. Treat People The Way You Like To Be Treated
My father stilled in me this lesson as it is the most popular but yet many do not live by this lesson. I never had a problem with treating people nicely as I was brought up in a Christian community and school so it was instilled in us to follow this lesson. This lesson has become a value of mine as I always treat people with kindness because what’s better than that, am I right?
My father and mother always treat people with respect and kindness and I am lucky enough to be able to have two great role models in my life. By no means is this lesson easy as your values will be tested sometimes, which is good because you will see how strong-minded you are as a person. I hope many of you were able to see how much of an impact my dad has had on me and I am grateful to have him and my mom in my life.

Thank you Dad for being a great person and a great dad. I am proud to say that I am your son and I am grateful to have you in my life. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there and I hope you all enjoyed your Sunday with your family.
