The 2022 / 365 Challenge

Make next year the greatest year of your life

Consistency is the only way that anything major happens.

If you want to build a monumental life it’s going to take some hard work. The good thing is that hard work if done regularly becomes a habit. Sometimes it even becomes pleasurable.

I wish I had started my writing challenge on the 1st of Jan last year. Alas, I started in May with a target of 90 posts in 90 days. 220 days or so later I am still going strong. Heading if I can, to the big 365 posts in a year.

I would never have done this if I hadn't committed to every day. If I had said “4–5 posts a week for a year” I wouldn’t be typing this now, nor any of the preceding articles.

For some of us, it is ok, to dabble and do a little bit here and there. For myself and others, that isn’t an option. Every day and strictly is the only way to make anything happen.

So my best advice is to choose one thing you can do every day next year and start today so that when Jan 1st comes you are already rolling.

Here is a shortlist of things you could start.

  1. Blogging, by posting once per day on Medium. Damn the likes, let the money come if it does, focus on the discipline and learn to push out content through all seasons and all moods.
  2. Learn proper mindfulness meditation. This is my 2022 / 365 target, spend at least 30 mins a day practising mindfulness meditation. You can start with cd’s and guided ones then move on to your own practice, but what is important is that you do it every day. Rain or shine, barring serious illness.
  3. Morning sun salutations or a Yoga system.
  4. Run or walk for an hour a day
  5. Journal with brutal honesty, write your heart out.

The ideas and possibilities are endless. If you are in that place where another year has flown by and you haven’t made any changes or furthered the path you want to walk, then maybe a daily challenge will help.

Think where you could be at the end of next year with one of the above done 365 times.

Whatever that looks like, it won’t look like right now.
