Writing routine matters a lot if you want to become a writer!

No one ever becomes a writer without having a good writing routine. In this short article, I will share with you a simple 15-minute routine. I followed this routine to write my 100+ books under multiple pen names.

Note: Currently, most of the books are related to my academic studies (tech).

Tiny Milestone matters a lot

I used to set myself a particular word count for the day. In my 20s, I was able to do 5k–8k word counts a day. But I won’t be advising you this because I suffered burnout quickly. That stayed for weeks!

So what is the 15-minute routine I am talking about?

Simple—

Decide what you have to do before opening your laptop.

Correct.

Plan your day before you open your laptop!

The moment I open my laptop, the first thing I will be doing is checking my income on Amazon KDP, Draft2Digital, my music store, and other small income sources I have.

This often creates a hurdle in deciding what I have to do for the day. So the best option I come up with is to have a to-do list before starting my day.

Either you can simply write your routine on paper, or you can also use a planner like this one.

Conclusion

We live in a world where showing income is the only way to earn money. I know — the moment I open my social media account, I will be seeing other people’s income and my mind fills with random thoughts that have nothing to do with me. I get confused and frustrated sometimes.

So I make sure to write my day’s plan before I check my emails, social media accounts, and dashboards.

First plan, then start your work.

Increase productivity by planning things beforehand.

Always.
