The 10 Best Places to Live Safely When It Breaks Mayhem

You’ll Be Away From Climate Change and Pro-Lifers

I am an anxious over-thinker. And these two things on their own are a pretty huge problem for a twenty-something-year-old to have and here I am proudly carrying the weight of both. (With the recent pandemic only adds to the issue.)

I have often thought about the ideal avatar like land, safe heaven beyond the clouds of climate change and debris of messed up societies with cultural, racial, financial and recently added debate of — “gender is real? ”

Here is my checklist for the perfect town —

  • Fresh water reserves
  • Agriculturally suitable land and food security
  • Promising Environment impact reports
  • Current global approach and leadership
  • Tendency and history with war
  • Lowest communal and gender divisions
  • Habitable conditions
  • Immunity to Natural disasters
  • Minimal to no rigid religious activities and practices. ( don’t get me wrong I am both religious and spiritual up to a point, but let’s keep it personal as I ain’t going to no Middle East even if that was declared heaven — because in that case, I shall choose to die )
  • Aesthetic quotient after all Instagram (Duh….influences will survive the apocalypse)
  • If it’s people and leaders believe climate change to be real (lol….. and here it became easy to eliminate the most number of countries )

On a serious note, the aftermath of climate change is not a distant future but a near tomorrow. It is no mystery that the temperature is rising at an alarming rate and the planet can hardly cope with the ever increasing population and its demands.

It’s wise to stay that cooler places with enough distance from the oceans and a higher elevation with deep and wide inland areas yet proximity and access to drinking water and food will be the safest. One must also keep an account of its geographic placement and protection from tectonic shifts and other alarming disasters.

It’s safe to say that no city is a one hundred per cent climate proof and no place on this planet is left untouched from the harsh effects of human actions, yet these cities possess the least threat and will prove to be the last to get affected and hence are proven to be mankind’s safest bet as of now.

Paro, Bhutan

Often referred to as the land of happiness, this isolated Buddhist nation is the world’s only carbon negative state. Its natural beauty is breathtaking and the Himalayas acts as a protection and lifeline. This nation is among the few to collect environmental tax from visitors and the monarchy is among the nicest in the world.

Tampere, Finland

Finland has About 67% of its land covered with forest and had 168,000 lakes ( I know even I was shocked ). It ranks first in drinking water, air quality, reliable police forces, judicial independence and safety. And as a result, has one of the highest life expectancies at 84.5 years and is the third happiest country.

Nuuk, Greenland

Most of Greenland is sparsely inhabited and this very attribute of this nation makes it our favourite as it not only has little population but an abundance of necessary resources from glaciers to active green power and hydroelectric.

Some even claim that by 2100 Greenland might have trees and forest area. Making it one is the most desirable places to live.

Geneva, Switzerland

Despite being one of the most expensive European cities to live in the excellent geographic positioning of Switzerland and its mountains providing both natural fencing that protects its borders and providing the never ending glacier waters makes all its cities the ideal place to live. The fact that Switzerland has continued to top as one of the wealthiest countries with neutral foreign stands, health care, positive environmental impact and impeccably organic produce makes this country a great place of residence.

The Great Lakes, United States of American

Osaka, Japan

This city feels like a time capsule with an old world charm and yet has all the Cool futuristic Japanese luxury. Japan is synonymous with good life and values. Although the country is pronto earthquakes. But the city sits perfectly on the edge and has a deep inland area. As of now, 30 % of the Japanese population consists of senior citizens and its children population drops every year which is a problem for the country’s economy but a bonus to its environment and future liveability.

Aiming to be the first carbon neutral city far before the Paris agreement took place. And is actively working on generating renewable energy and social security and excellent air quality for its citizens.

Wellington, New Zealand

New Zealand is a beautiful island nation where the people are so considerate towards nature that they regard rivers as living entities and this city is well prepared for climate change with its complete seclusion from the world since isn’t a Pretty remote island nation that acts as a biodiversity hotspot and owns the largest freshwater reserves.

Honourable mentions —

  1. Iceland
  2. Australia
  3. Ireland

Packing our bags and heading to these destinations is no solution ( although I wish it was, because who doesn’t love to run from their problems and own mess), so let’s not give up on positive change because it’s never too late or too early.

These wise words of Gandhi very beautifully and precisely explain my thoughts and since has done a pretty good job so I’ll quote him and make my work easy and point clearer.

“We have not inherited this earth from our forefathers; we have borrowed it from our children”.

We are the first generation to feel the effect of climate change and the last generation who can do something about it.
