The 10/90 Rule — Power of Planning
How to overcome natural procrastination

In today’s society, I feel as if we’re all trying to find new ‘hacks’ and ‘tricks’ to get more done in less time, whilst also being able to relax and enjoy life.
We are slowly drifting further away from the fundamentals. When you learn how to play basketball, you learn the basic dribble and shot before ever taking on a complex skill or trying to dunk. The same should apply to your daily life.
Master the fundamentals- in return, you’re raising your standards.
The 10/90 Rule
‘The 10/90 Rule’ states that the first 10% of the time that you spend planning your work before you begin, will save you as much as 90% of the time in getting the job done once you get started.
It takes only about 10 minutes for you to plan your day the day before, and this small investment of time will save you up to two hours (100 to 120 minutes) in wasted time and diffuse effort throughout the day.
You don’t need the most complex notion set-up or app, you can increase your opportunities for growth and success with just a pen and paper.
I’d always advise starting with something super simple and then tackling the tasks with the highest priority to avoid procrastination later.
Different Lists according to a purpose
Apart from your daily to-do-list, one thing which can be very beneficial is creating lists for different purposes/time frames.
This could include and ‘monthly list’ or a ‘weekly list’. Having this can put into perspective whether you are really putting in effort each day to those long-term goals or not.
With time, you’ll soon realize how not making those lists and setting yourself those targets will be harder than doing so.
Have a great week!
