The #1 Rule to Follow in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey!
The truth will shock the shit out of you once you know why!

As far back as I can remember, playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey back in the day meant two things. The first, was gear upkeep, and the second, was which gear was better and provided the best perks. Now, I’m not a fancy lawyer or anything but it seems to me that there are more people for than against certain categories, for lack of a better word, in terms of gear.
However, the only gear in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey that I fucks with, is Legendary Gear. Now, this is my first time playing this game in 4 years so in lieu of that I feel like I’m having to relearn a lot of the gear mechanics as it were.
Back during my very first playthrough, I found myself having legendary gear of just about every kind. And while it was great to an even greater extent, the knowledge has become lost on me on how I obtained said gear. However, I was gifted with two legendary gear sets at the beginning of the game, one from Valhalla and the other from Assassin’s Creed II from what I can tell.
But the bigger thing about this is that I only fucks with Legendary Gear because of the perks, it's better protection and there are just so many. However, as I’m playing through the game, I ran into a bit of snafu of sorts and it has bitten me on the ass.
The terrible, terrible thing I’ve done is trying to upgrade my legendary gear.
There’s a reason why you should never do this and the prime reason is that the resources it takes to max out every piece of your legendary gear is exorbitantly high, you’re likely to spend every minute in the game trying to get every piece of legendary gear to max level. That’s what I call a true and real grind, not worth it!
And one of the reasons it's not is because of the fact that the resources are scarce. Plus, the game is all about exploring every bit of the Greek World not spending 70+ hours foraging and grinding resources to keep your legendary gear at your current level.
Now, you might think, “Well, what about my weapon?” and you know what I have thought of that. I want it to go on the record that upgrading your weapon at the Blacksmith is a viable option, but it might get to be pointless after you start hunting the members of the Cult of Kosmos.
Spoiler Alert, more than a few pieces of legendary gear will be coming to you after you knock off a few branches of these pricks and if I’m being honest, the legendary gear you get from them is very potent.
You know, now that I reflect upon it, I don’t recall upgrading any of my legendary gear from the last playthrough.
2nd Spoiler Alert, your first official piece of legendary gear comes in the form of Nikolaos’ sword. Do you want to know what patience and the Cult of Kosmos have in common?
The answer is simple, by playing through the game, you’re going to acquire all of the legendary gear that you can ever have and hold. Now, whether you’re playing the game for the first time in a long time like me, or just playing it for the first time, you might find yourself scrambling, trying to get your hands on or move the game forward to get the legendary gear ball rolling.
Tertiary Spoiler Alert, you won’t hear anything about the Cult of Kosmos until you find Elepenor and he stupidly challenges you to mortal combat in his lair which lies in a cave overlooking Snake Temple in the Valley of the Snakes.
However, Elepenor will mention the Cult of Kosmos which will get the ball rolling, but you won’t truly encounter them until after your meeting of the vile minds when you go undercover for one of their “meetings”.
So as I write this now, I say this to you, don’t upgrade your legendary gear at all because there will be others, and trust me when I say that they’re going to come to you in droves.
Now, here’s two options you can explore if you so desire. The first, you can wear the legendary gear you were gifted at the beginning of the game. Or, you can just wear random pieces consisting of rare, common, and epic gear until you get your first official in-game legendary gear set.
I’m personally going with the second option myself currently because the legendary gear sets that I was gifted don’t really seem to sit well with me, I didn’t care for any of the earlier Assassin’s Creed games and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla didn’t really explore legendary gear sets like Odyssey.
So having said that I decided to just wear random bullshit until I get my first official in-game legendary gear set. I was set to tell you to do the same but it would be up to you really.
