Summary

The article expresses deep concern over the discrimination faced by Black individuals, particularly in the context of the Ukraine conflict and historical racism, emphasizing the necessity for recognition of Black lives and the importance of Critical Race Theory and Black History Month.

Abstract

The author of the article conveys a profound sense of distress over the systemic racism experienced by Black people, as evidenced by recent events in Ukraine where Black individuals, including students, were denied access to public transportation amid the conflict. This treatment is seen as a continuation of historical injustices, where Black people are marginalized and dehumanized, especially during times of crisis. The author points out the disparity in societal responses to racism against different ethnic groups, highlighting the lack of protective measures for Black people compared to the swift legislative action taken against Anti-Asian hate crimes. The piece underscores the importance of acknowledging that Black lives matter and the need for educational tools like Critical Race Theory to address systemic racism. It calls for a broader understanding of the pervasive nature of racism and the importance of celebrating Black history and culture beyond a single month.

Opinions

  • The author believes that those who deny the existence of racism or support the "All Lives Matter" narrative are disconnected from reality.
  • There is a strong sentiment that Black people are often treated as expendable, particularly during conflicts that primarily involve non-Black populations.
  • The author expresses frustration with the Ukraine Deputy Chief Prosecutor's comments, which seemed to prioritize the lives of those with blonde hair and blue eyes over others, implying a hierarchy of human value based on race.
  • The article criticizes the global community's response to racism, noting the lack of support and protection for Black people compared to other groups, such as Asian communities affected by hate crimes.
  • The author advocates for the recognition of Black Lives Matter, Critical Race Theory, and the year-round celebration of Black history as essential steps towards acknowledging and combating systemic racism.
  • Despite the author's sympathy for all victims of conflict, there is a clear call for self-awareness and caution against supporting nations or groups that have shown racist attitudes and behaviors towards Black people.

That Horrific Moment When You Realize All Lives Do Not Matter

Ukraine’s suffering has become Black people’s nightmare

At this point, if you feel that racism does not exist or that All Lives Matter, you, my friend, are out of touch with reality.

I’m no political buff at all, but I do care about what happens to Blacks the world over.

The other day, I watched on social media as Blacks were pushed off of trains- particularly Black women and children, which is frightening enough. Then today I see news reports of Black college students being thrown off trains and not allowed on other public transportation, pressing them further into dangerous areas.

Something splintered in my soul when I saw image after image of my precious Black skinned people being mistreated as if they were less than human. As usual we are caught in the middle of The War of the Whites and are just casualties that will stain history with very little thought.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Ukraine’s Deputy Chief Prosecutor recently stated that it saddens him to see blonde hair and blue eyed people getting killed. He was reportedly emotional about this.

Implying that anyone not blonde haired and blue eyed are…not as treasured.

Not as…human.

This is unacceptable.

Yet, it is familiar all the same.

Remember when the pandemic hit? African nationals and expatriates were evicted — EVICTED from their homes and other lodgings in China because they feared Africans would spread a disease that originated in Wuhan.

Make that make sense.

They literally tried to convince the world that a disease that probably originated in China, could be spread by Blacks/Africans.

I still remember the prickle of water behind my eyes as I watched a pregnant Black woman who needed medical attention, remain outside as Asian nurses shook their head at her and reminded her, she could not receive help — because she was Black.

Now what did these “fine” people get for behaving so badly towards Blacks and then experiencing the same karmic hate we experience daily?

They received the Anti-Asian Hate crime bill signed by Biden because they were being accused and attacked.

What did the Blacks/Africans receive?

I’ll wait…

Nothing. Silence.

Anything getting signed yet for OUR protection?

Crickets.

Now do you understand why we chant Black Lives Matter?

Now do you understand why we need Critical Race Theory?

Now do you understand why I celebrate Black History 365 days of the year?

Now do you understand?

Now, don’t get me wrong.

I have sympathy for those being harmed and killed. Naturally, I’d rather there not be any wars of any kind. I understand, however, that war is a part of life, and I did not make the rules.

People can be horrible sometimes and then you have horrible, greedy people who want to snatch up lands.

All the while, they still have time to show us the undying “ism” called RACISM no matter if there is rain, sleet, snow, pandemic or war.

So before you start weeping for other countries’ woes, be sure to understand your own plight first and do not be quick to aid anyone who would throw you under the bus.

Thank you for reading my words.
