WRITING
Thankful for Writing Contests. Space Is Helping Me Expand
Challenges grow my own daring

Are you entering the Medium Writing Challenges? I do. I just love a good challenge. It helps me get my thoughts in order. It helps me to get behind my keyboard and just write. It helps me grow my daring.
As I’m a non-native speaker, I don’t expect to win anything. That’s not my drive. But I do put my quality boundary high up in the air. Give it my best. And enter my stories anyway.
The first one has already been published. This is it, about Space.
At this moment in time, I’m so smitten by Space. I just see how it can change our lives if we will innovate with Space. And I also experience every day how Space and compassion are driving me.
And the moment I saw how Nature was creating with Space, I was blown away. It was a moment on my bicycle, going to the cheese shop. Mundane shopping for basic needs.
I’m Dutch. Cheese is definitely a basic need for us. Cheesy but true…
The story has been published in Age of Awareness, the first publication here on Medium that took my stories seriously and asked me to join their other voices. So, let me give some thanks where gratitude is due.
Thanks, Stephen Muskett, M.S.Ed, and team, for your support and editing work since 2019.
Blue Space Slime
Of course, the Medium Writing Challenges also give me a great opportunity to read valuable work of others. This is one that stuck in my mind. Written by Alexandra Walker-Jones. Funny. Cheeky. Family life.
And of course, I’d like to thank my friends here on Medium who tag me in stories. When I have a spare minute, I try to read them all! And comment. Have conversations. Medium is a social medium for me.
And my international friends are valuable friends.
Stories on Death, Work, Reentry
I’ve already written my next story on Death too. It’s scheduled to be published in The Apeiron Blog. Great blog about philosophy. I’ll let you know when you can read it.
The story about Work is a work in progress for me.
Nearly finished, but not ready for the ‘hit publish button’ yet. I plan to publish it in Illumination Curated, so you will all receive it in your feed when it’s ready.
And Reentry? I’m still doubting what to write for that one. A poem with a story? A Tiny Life Moment about cycles of birth, growth, death, and decay? A story for Change Your Mind Change Your Life? An emotional approach for Blue Insights? Or a more spiritual approach for Know Thyself, Heal Thyself?
My list of possible publications is long, nowadays. And although I do have my personal favorites, I like to publish in an unexpected one once in a while. So maybe Data Driven Investor or Predict is a better choice for Reentry?
Tell Us
And all the while, I’m so mighty curious what you all come up with in these challenges.
I also saw that Medium made a new change. Evolving the Partner Program. Giving us the opportunity to earn money by attracting new subscribers. Are you happy with that? Or not?
Let’s have these conversations. But please, let’s not forget why we’re here. To have fun. To share our insights. And to grow our writing skills.
Together.
Thanks, Trista Signe Ainsworth, for creating the Thank You Notes and asking us to enter our stories here too. And thanks to all of my friends here who are making my journey into becoming an influential writer worthwhile.
