Thank You, Women
A few words of thanks to all women.
In Springtime the earth gives birth. She’s always there, giving birth in many ways but never so pronounced as in the Spring. Male and female are part of this majestic process. But today I’m thinking about women.
Thinking about women.
Women giving life and touching lives.
Women sharing joy and pain.
Women passing wisdom, and tradition, and skills from one generation to another.
Women giving birth.
Women never die. Not really. They live through all that they give to one another.
In the Springtime, the earth gives birth. Women gather around. I’m thinking of you.
Thank you for all that you do and for all that you are — just as you are.
The women most nurturing to me were all women who never gave birth to a child of their own. But they gave birth to me. Birth, for me, can be more than physical birth. It can be looking deeply into another — seeing all that is hidden there and nurturing it to come forth.
Katie Michaelson I tend plants and people from my 120-year-old home and small garden. I see strength in the injured spirit and find significance in the insignificant.
