Thank You to my Wonderful Wife

The blessings she brings to my life become more evident every day

Rachel and I diving in Florida

Thanksgiving week is giving me a chance to reflect on what and who I’m most grateful for in my life.

I want to take this week, and say thank you to those entities, people, and organizations that have had profound influences on my life.

I believe that when gratitude is expressed it creates ripples of joy into the universe. It has the power to change hearts and lives, because it reminds us of how important we are to each other. And who doesn’t need more of these reminders.

Today, I want to focus on my wife Rachel. She is one of the biggest blessings of my life.

Rachel and I met at an event that focused on creating visions for the future. It makes sense that we would meet at such a thing, because of all the many adventures over the nearly 12 years that we have been together.

Over these 12 years, we have been around the world scuba diving, gone zip lining, horseback riding in Costa Rica, and a thousand other wonderful adventures.

When we met, I knew that we were going to be together forever, because she offered me something I couldn’t resist. She offered me the possibility of being in relationship with someone who I could grow with; basically, a laboratory of sorts where I could discover how to love someone with my whole heart and soul. I may or may not have been offered such an opportunity before, but when Rachel appeared on the horizon, I was ready.

I had never been married before. When we got married in June of 2011 what I didn’t know was how good marriage was going to be for me. I had heard of the blessings of marriage before of course, but I had never actually experienced it. Not only did I not know the blessings of a good marriage, but I didn’t know satisfying it is to be married to your soul mate. Rachel is my soul mate. Anyone who has spent any time around us knows how perfectly God matched us together.

From playing music in church, scuba diving in the Caribbean, taking road trips around the United States, our love of cats, as well as our spiritual lives together I have discovered that my life is much better because of her being in mine.

There is magic in Rachel. It’s something indescribable in the way that she moves in the world. As I watch her continue to bless the world with her many talents, I discover every day another reason to love her even more. It’s as if I knew these things when we met, and I’m now discovering why it was true. It’s akin to listening to a beautiful symphony and hearing something different every time you listen to it. This is how it is with my wife. Every day is a new opportunity to see something even more beautiful in her. This is truly a wonderful surprise to me. I had no idea that it was possible to find someone who I would want to continue to know even better.

As we move into the holiday season, I get even more excited and grateful. The Thanksgiving and Christmas season is a magical time for us. Our inner kids come out to play. I feel energized and blessed by this time with Rachel. We just have so much fun!

I pray that I can be as loving and generous as my wife is to me. I want to express to her that I love her on a deeper level than ever, and that I continue to be hopeful for a long and bright future together. I am a blessed man. To not express love to her during the Thanksgiving week would have been be a big miss. I didn’t want to miss it.
