Thank You To My English Teacher
Mrs. Sawyer inspired us to live a life of adventure

“Love, like everything else in life, should be a discovery, an adventure, and like most adventures, you don’t know you’re having one until you’re right in the middle of it.” ― E.A. Bucchianeri, Brushstrokes of a Gadfly,
Dear Mrs. Sawyer,
It has been five years since your passing, and I remember you fondly. I know you are still having grand adventures, as you encouraged us to do in your classes.
Thank you for your wisdom, style, and grace. You were a model of joy for all of us, and I appreciate that you taught me to love reading and writing most of all.
I remember you told us during every class to seek out “romance and adventure” in life. I will never forget those words, and they have served me well.
You had a kind heart for everyone that walked through your door. You were a comforting soul and were always there to help everyone. I love that you had a couch in your classroom. It made it feel like home.
My memories of your class bring me happiness as I reminisce. I remember hanging on to your every word while all around me, students were busy chatting about something else.
I appreciate you every day because now I create words for others to read.
Each day I get to experience what you taught us, an adventure in the form of a story. Your enthusiasm for books and writing carried me through all of my years, and I am grateful I got to be your student.
Your bright smile always helped us get through hard days, and your door was always open to all students.
You live on through the auditorium built in your name and the scholarship that honors a student every year. Your spirit shines on in my heart every day.
Thank you for being an inspiring teacher,
Trista
